Bundle Up with Chomas Creations adjustable holder for the Cricut

Well yes it is spring.  But in Michigan it is FREEEEZING!  So I figured I could get in 1 last cold days layout hehe!  Next layout, SPRING or even summmer...  I can dream, right?
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder in the Cricut Expression 2 with a Sakura Glaze gel pen (a full sized gel pen!) to draw the journaling lines for this layout.  I have a share for CCR that you can make 9 of these journaling circles in 1 shot!  You can get that share here...  journaling circles

I used Lyrical Letters for the title on this page, and Simply Charmed for the glove and hat.  I can't resist googly eyes on my characters!!
Here is my completed page, along with some extra goodies!!!

Using the Chomas Creations engraving tip on odd shaped objects

If you are looking to try the Chomas Creations engraving tip on some of the aluminum tags, look at Ohax Industries, Inc. They have tons of colors and sizes of these metal tags and they are made out of aluminum so they are nice and light weight!  And the owner says he will work with us crafters if we have special sizes we would like.  This is the information I was sent on the tags and free shipping...

20pcs. Combo pack of assorted colors and shapes for $17.00 - Free Shipping
after applying the coupon code ASS-DT1 for $12.98 credit on shipping.

10pcs pack of individual shape sells for $8.98 and does not qualify for free shipping
with the code, but 2 pack will qualify for the Free shipping after applying the coupon.

The coupon is good for your group on these items plus other items in the store when
the aggregate purchase is more than $16.98, then he//she gets the $12.98 shipping
discount after applying the code.
Here is one of the other types of tags I have done from Ohax Industries with the Chomas Creations engraving tip.

How about a tutorial for lining up these odd shaped pieces like shown above?   If you have a tag that is shaped like a rectangle, or easy shape to recreate in Studio, you can skip these steps and go to step 3.  This is more for the odd shaped tags you would like to engrave on.  So pretend my rectangle is an odd shape, but then you get an idea on how to do this.  You could also use this tutorial for drawing with the Cameo as well!

1. First I used a BLACK pen to trace the tags I wanted to use.  These are some sample tags I was sent, but there were a lot in the same size, just different colors.  This will work for any size.
2. I then scanned my traced paper and opened the image in Silhouette Studio.  I used the trace function in Studio.  First you click on select trace area (1), then you highlight what you want to trace (2), then click on trace outer edge (3), and finally adjust the high pass filter so your image is all yellow lines.
3. Now because I want to line up my letters on my tag, I need to figure out where they are going to be in my machine.  I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a pen to draw my tags on a piece of scrap paper.
4. Now I want to turn off the cut lines for when I am engraving.  To do this first click on the image of the scissors (1), then click on your image, in this case the tags (2), and then click on no cut (3).
5. You can add any text or designs you would like to the Silhouette Studio file.
Now add the Chomas Creations engraving tip to the Cameo.  Add the tags to  your scrap paper with some glue dots, these are easy to scrape off after you engrave.  I used a thickness of 33, a speed of 4, and checked double cut.

So now you are probably wondering where I am getting these fonts?  Well Kay at Clever Someday has 2 posts on her blog with these engraving fonts.  Kay has used as fill fonts, hmmm... going to have to give it a try!  The Cameo is a lot quicker then you would think it would be in doig this.

Lucky me with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

I don't think my son yet knows just how lucky he is to have my mom!  She is so amazing and everyone just loves her!  Lucky me to!
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with the Staedtler triplus fineliner to draw the graph paper background.  I have a thing with straight lines!  You can get the download the graph paper file for Studio here... graph paper  The title was from the Studio store.
The journaling doodle oval is also a download that you can get here... journaling doodle  I also used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with the Staedtler triplus fineliner to draw this.
Here is the finished page!

Life is great with Chomas Creations adjustable holders

I'm ready for some of the sun shiney days like the picture in this layout!  How about you?
Did you know a full sized Sharpie marker can fit in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder??  Well it CAN!  This means you can draw on slippery surfaces like this transparency!  Of course you can also draw on vinyl, metal sheets, acrylic, and more!
These heart designs were from the Studio store.  I drew them with the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder and a full sized Sharpie.  I used a thickness of 1 (too high a thickness can crush the tips of your Sharpies, so start low!), a speed of 4 and a multi-cut of 2 (this makes the color of the marker even darker).  I then cut around the heart shapes in a circle and added them to my page.  Because the transparency is clear, I used brads to stick these designs to my layout.
The title was done with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder and a Staedtler triplus fineliner.  You can get the file share for that here...  journaling oval
Here is my layout!  The title was a Studio download as well.

This is life with Chomas Creations engraving tip

I found this group of pictures and just had to get them on pages!  Long ago I gave up on the "perfect" picture and I'm happy now with all of us in the same picture.  This was Mother's Day and I wanted a picture of me and the kids.  Getting the 2 little ones to cooperate is never that easy lol!  We usually resolve to bribery...
I don't have a favorite in these pictures, they are all my favorite, so they all get to make the layout!
The title for this page I found in the Studio store.  I added the diagonol lines into the title with the sketch feature from Studio Designers Edition.  I then used the Chomas Creations engraving tip to etch the lines into Core'dinations cardstock using a thickness of 33, a speed of 4 and a double cut.  By leaving the mat in the machine and replacing the engraving tip with the blade, I then cut around the design.
The journaling circle is a share I made in Studio.  You can download the share here... journaling doodles  I drew it with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder and a gel pen.
Here is the 2 page layout with my kiddies!  This was a few years ago, but nice to see it is finally done lol!

This smile with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

I had quite the helper with this scrapbook page!  My 8 year old daughter helped me pick out papers and embellies and even decided the title should be "she's sweet, she's kind, she's Ella!".  But when it came down to it she told me that the one I had picked was cute and she wanted that instead, but how could I pass up her idea for a title in the journaling?  Because she really is sweet and kind!
Did you know in Designers Editions of Studio you can take any line and change it into a loopy?  I did just that with the background design.  You can download that here... loopy 12x12
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a Staedtler triplus fineliner to draw the loops with a thickness of 5 and a speed of 5.  The title is a Studio download.   I did cut it 3 times then layered it to make it stand out a bit more.

And speaking of loopy, I made these journaling doodles quite awhile back and decided to use them on this page to go with my other loopy!  You can download these here...  journaling doodles  I also used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a Staedtler triplus fineliner to draw the loops with a thickness of 5 and a speed of 5. I accidentally did a double cut on these, but they turned out very nice!

Here is the completed page with my sweet kind girl!  I let Ella pick where are the embellies went on this page and I think she has a career as a future scrapper!

Sweet little one with Chomas Creations adjustable holders

Don't mind me, my house maybe a bit messy but I am getting some me crafting time in, hehee!  My nephew just turned 1 and I took these pictures of him, and of course needed a new page!
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder with the white Signo Uniball gel pen to draw the title and the journaling lines.  To get the dashed lines for journaling I took solid lines and used the cut line settings in Designers Edition and changed the style to dashed.  Super simple!
I used a thickness of 5 and a speed of 1 for drawing.  The white gel pen takes a bit longer to dry and you don't want it to smear.  Because I drew on a 12x12 sheet of paper I added my cardstock to the mat at the 1 inch line to avoid the rollers in the Cameo.  Worked great!
And here is my cute little nephew!  Don't you just want to pinch those sweet cheeks!  I hand wrote my journaling on my dashed lines right on the page.

Wet embossing with the Chomas Creations holders

At it again with the Sakura glue pen!  I wanted to see how it would work with embossing powders and it worked GREAT!  So I put the Cameo to work and added the glue pen to the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder and drew the flower design.  After the glue dried (it turns from blue to clear) I added the embossing powder, shook off the excess then heated it!  Remember if you are going to draw with the glue pen you need a slow speed of 1 or 2 in the Cameo and because it is a very wet pen, a thickness of 1.  This blog post here also shows how you want to avoid the rollers in the Cameo so as not to smear the design..  glue pen in Cameo

Chalks, a glue pen & the Chomas Creations adjustable holders

So I had this idea to try out something new today.  I just love when I get a little bit of creative time!  So I got out the chalks (oooh you know if you have been crafting long that you still have them!) and the Sakura Quickie Glue glue pen to see what I could do.
I added the glue pen to the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder in the Cameo.  The key with the glue pen is to go sloooooow...  So I turned the speed all the way down to 1, and the thickness down to 1 as well as the glue pen is a very wet pen.  Notice how I am keeping the design to the left of the main rollers in my machine *2 (you will see the rollers when you click on send to Silhouette *1).  You may also need to move over the rubber rollers on the bar in the Cameo as they can smear wet pens like the glue pen.

The glue comes out a light blue shade when it is wet, and turns clear when dry.  Make sure it is dry when you chalk it up!  I made mine into a card.  The flower design was a studio download.  The title I used a thin font from Lettering Delights called LDT sparkle.  I didn't get the best picture as this is a light green chalk, but it looks really pretty in real life!

Want to know how I got the card to fold like that?  Simple!  Cut 2 of the shape you are going to use.  On 1 of the shapes add a straight line like shown in the picture below.  Make sure to turn on and off your cut settings when you do this.  I added a stylus to the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder to score the solid line.  I did copy and paste in place the line 3 times, so it was scored 4 times with a thickness of 33 and a speed of 3.

Now you fold along your score line, use a bone folder to smooth the crease and a double sided sticky tape to glue the small part onto the back of your card!

Cozy and warm with Chomas Creations engraving tip

One of the favorite gathering spots in our house in winter is around the fireplace!  There are often fights for who gets this prime spot!  You are lucky if no one else is around when the fire is burning in the fireplace!
I wanted a cozy feel to this layout, so I used warm brown tones.  I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip (thickness of 33, speed of 4, double cut) on Core'dinations kraft core cardstock to etch the herringbone design.  A light sanding later and this is what you get!
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a Staedtler pen (thickness 2, speed 3) to draw the journaling and then cut it with the Cameo.  The font is a Lettering Delights thin font.
The title is from the Studio store.
Here is the finished page!  I also added some arrows and brads to the page for a little extra!
