I've always loved the idea of the Souffle gel pens. They have a little bit of a fluffy look to them. While playing with them I found they work best when you slow the speed down on the Cameo, it gives more time for the ink to get onto the surface.
This was actually a very quick card as I used the balloons sketch & happy birthday script from the Silhouette store.
Using the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with the thickness at 9 & the speed at 3, I added the Souffle gel pens to the holder and drew out the images. Then I took less then a minute to color in the sentiment.

It's a boy card using Chomas Creations embossing kit

It's a boy card (hopefully, every once in awhile they are wrong!) for my new nephew that will be coming on Thursday! I'm very excited for his arrival!
If you would like to make this card with Design Studio, Doodlecharms and Boys Will be Boys cartridges, you can download the file here... it's a baby card And if you need it for a girl, that is included in the file as well!
I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit to make the bottle border on the bottom of this card. By adding the metal sheet colored side down, then embossing, you can sand the raised image to get this look.

Happy Birthday card with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

Another birthday party, another birthday card to bring! I recently purchased Silhouette's Designer Edition (like Studio with more goodies to try out!) and was playing around with some of the sketch options in it. One of the things you could do was fill your letters with this cross hatch pattern. So while this was simple to do in DE, I'm still going to share it for those of you without it! Just like yesterday's card, I have a lot of pre-cut 4x5.5 kraft cards I need to use up from the holidays, so I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with the black metallic Chomas Creations gel pen from the assorted pack of gel pens to draw the sentiment right on the card. Then I just added a chipboard sticker. Super easy!

Now I just need more time to play with my new software!!!

Happy Birthday sketch card with Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder

Another January birthday party to go to! So another birthday card.

I wanted to have some creative fun with my feet up, so I pulled out the good ole' Wacom tablet and started drawing in MTC (Make-the-Cut). I found you can draw a lot smoother in MTC then you can in Silhouette Studio. You can change around the smoothing and precision for drawing in MTC as well, which helped a lot with my flower sketch, which you can download for MTC here... flower sketch
To make card making easier this year, I invested in a 50 pack of 4x5.5 inch cards with envelopes in kraft color. I added this to my mat and drew right on it.

I used layers in MTC as well, so that I could draw in different colors of Sharpie glitter paint markers using the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder. To do this, it is as simple as turning off layers (clicking on the eye to turn off a layer). As you can see I turned off the grass and flower stems and then drew the petals and happy birthday sentiment first.

Then insert the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder into the Cameo & add the Sharpie paint marker into the holder. Draw your images on a pressure of 8, and speed of 5. Do not remove your mat from the machine.
Now swith the layers that are on and off, so that the grass and stems are now showing. Replace your Sharpie paint marker in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder (you do not need to take the holder out of the machine) with a green marker. Now draw these images.

This is a pretty simple card. I did add some Viva Decor glitter glue to the center of my flowers.

Birthday boy card with Chomas Creations marker holder

My nephew's birthday is this month so I needed a boy like card for this one. I found these silver cardstock like papers at Joanns and Target that are by Colorbok and are super cheap! The silver is slippery, so you need something like a Sharpie or Bic Mark-Its (permanent markers) to use to write on it.
Because he turned 11, I added 11 candles to the card with the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder and a Bic Mark-It. I like to use double cut when using the markers to make them show up even more bold. The candle was from Studio (birthday candle) as well as the birthday boy phrase (house of 3 birthday boy).

It's a girl card with Chomas Creations engraving tip

Ooooh I love me some clear cardstock for making cards!!! And my fav thing to do with it is etch into it with the Chomas Creations engraving tip!
One of my friends just had a baby girl, so I thought it would be fun to etch some baby designs that I downloaded from Studio (baby shapes), and then etched them with the Chomas Creations engraving tip as a border along the bottom of this card. It is hard to see in the picture, but click on it to get a better look.

I also used the It's a Girl design from Studio (It's A Girl design by Hero Arts ) to add to the front of the card. Layering on clear cardstock is my fav thing to do! I added this bracket design (2 layer tag) to the inside back of the card and for a place to write, I added a cream colored one to the back of the card.

Celebrate birthday card with Chomas Creations engraving tip

I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip to etch the cupcake design into Core'dinations cardstock. I use a multi-cut of 2 for this to really dig into that paper! This is the engrave page in the DS file, then I replaced the blade in place of the engraving tip to cut the cut around the cupcakes using the engrave cut page in the DS file.

I also used the Chomas Creations engraving tip to score the card. I set my pressure to high, and then scrored the emboss page of the DS file. I then replaced the blade in place of the engraving tool and cut the card shape with the card cut page of the DS file.

Next I cut the celebrate page of the DS file and added them to my cards, and added Stickles over all of the sprinkles on the cupcakes.

Well it is time I put together a list of my favorite fonts for journaling! These are the fonts that are thinner lined, so they won't look like they have that double lined look. Of course there are many, many more!! These are just what I have that I know have worked for me so far!
So here is a page I did with the first font on my list, Fire Fly Castle. I used the font to journal around the page then used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder with the white Signo Uni ball gel pen. Notice how when I made the font bigger on the bottom, you can see the double lines. I simply grabbed my white gel pen and colored in the middle, as you can see on the letters "HAP" in the picture below. It didn't take long at all to finish this!

My journaling was done on one of the journaling boxes I made with the Chomas Creations holders awhile back with the red glitter Chomas Creations gel pen. I trimmed the gift off the end so it would fit. You can find the dashed line file here... journaling box

Here is the finished page. These are some old Basic Grey papers, and stickers I had so I used a bunch of scraps on this! Nice to use up some of that stash!

Artist with Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder

Well I'm finally back! The kids are in school, the routine has kicked back in, and can I tell you just how much I missed being creative?? Ok, I think I just did hehe!
For the new year when I use designs from Silhouette Studio, I'm going to share the names with them. Same with any font I use! I hope this will be more helpful to all of you!
I used 2 files for Studio, the first is artist and the 2nd is water color paint set. I then used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder with a .1 mm Copic Multi Liner. These pens are made to go work with Copic markers, so no smearing. And can I just tell you how amazed I was at just how smooth they draw with the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder in the Cameo?? AWESOME!!

I then colored in just a small portion of the things I drew with Copic markers. For the silver I used a silver Sharpie marker.

I needed some thicker lined journaling circles, so I made some in studio. You can download the share for these here... journaling circles thick I again used the Copic Multi Liner in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder to draw the lines on these.

I wanted the small splashes of color from the Copics to be the only color on this page, so I used some Basic Grey papers in shades of brown on this page.

One of my fav things I discovered is this clear cardstock, it is like transparency but thicker, but not so thick you can't crease it to make a card! I made this one using the Chomas Creations micro Sharpie holder. You can see the card details here... Rock On

Oh did I mention the Chomas Creations tools aren't just for making layouts?? Check out these cute frames I added embossed metal sheets to that I made with the Chomas Creations embossing kit on a different colored metal sheets. You can see them here... embossed frames

One of my fav things to do with the Chomas Creations engraving tip is to use it to etch into Core'dinations cardstock! This cardstock is colored on one side, and black or brown on the other, so when you dig into the black or brown, the color shows through! Here is a layout I did with that technique. In July I added a tutorial on scoring cards with the Chomas Creations embossing tip, and I've been doing it with every card since! What a super easy way to fold a card in half! You can see the tutorial for this here... card score

August was back to school and this was a fun layout with cork board accents that I made using the Chomas Creations mini Sharpie holder. They don't bleed into the corkboard or smear! You can get more details on that here... back to school

I just love making my own embellishments and I've always loved metal embellies, so I made my own with the Chomas Creations embossing kit and a metal sheet. Metal sheets are easy to cut with scissors (trying to cut with those little metal blades ruins them), so I always hand cut my embellies. More info on that layout here... little man

October brought about the Chomas Creations engraving tip for the Silhouette/Cameo and I found some black and white Core'dinations cardstock. With the 2 together I made this layout here... Enjoy every moment

November brought about the new Chomas Creations adjustable pen and marker holders for both the Cricut and Silhouette/Cameo. What a difference a pen makes...

I'm here today to RAVE about the Uni-ball Signo white gel pen. Not all white gel pens are the same, believe me, I have about 4 different kinds here and none of the others compare to this one! Now when I started making samples with the new Chomas Creations adjustable holders, I did have one of these babies. But my youngest son decided to "borrow" it, and lost it (oooh the horrors!) so I went back to some of my other white gel pens, but it just wasn't the same! So I ordered 3 new Uni-ball Signo white gel pens, and I'm back in business and happier then ever! And these babies don't skip! Look how amazing the gel pen did on this navy blue cardstock for tags. Waiting for Santa with Chomas Creations embossing kit

I'm lucky to be a guest designer for the 12 days of Christmas blog hop going on over at Honeybearz Designs! I've also donated a Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder & all 20 mini gel pens over there as part of some stocking stuffers. Well with all the fun and excitement of my new Chomas Creations adjustable holders, I've been missing playing with my Chomas Creations embossing kit for the Cricut! So I got it out to play hehe! I used it to make the reindeer and candy cane border on a metal sheet with the Christmas Cheer cartridge. After I embossed it, I sanded the raised image.

I then designed the title with Doodletype and the Santa with Christmas Cheer and cut them out. I used fuzzy vinyl from Silhouette to add the beard and trim on Santa!

Here is the completed page along with my boys. It is a few years ago, but this sweet picture finally has its own page hehe!

I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder for the Cameo with a white gel pen to draw the background for this page. The key to drawing your journaling like this is to look for thinner fonts so they look like they are single lines.

Frosty the Snowman card with Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder

Someone on facebook had posted a link about making cards for a boy that is going through a battle with leukemia after already having battled cancer twice. This card is for Joey, and if you would like to send him a card, here is the link.... Joey cards I love how at this time of year, everyone joins together and they do good things like this, may Joey's mailbox be overfull!

I made this file in Make-the-Cut, you can download the file here... Frosty file The file does not include the snowman as that was a Lettering Delights file, but you could add your own! The font is called Play Date.
I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder in the Cricut with a silver glitter Chomas Creations mini gel pen to draw the Frosty lyrics as well as the snowman. I then added some fuzzy vinyl snowflakes and a bit to the snowman to cute him up a bit!

5 rhinestone tanks with the Cameo!

My niece's 9th birthday party is tomorrow so I'm hooking her up with 5 rhinestone tanks this year! She is always complaining about being hot, and is often found walking around the house in winter in tank tops, so these will work for her!
By using rhinestone template material, I used the Cameo to cut hundreds of these little circles to make a stencil. The rhinestone patterns are all in the Studio software for download and there are a ton of patterns to choose from! Here is an easy to follow tutorial on how to make these... rhinestone tutorial

Yes I will admit, I'm addicted to white gel pens, and I missed not being able to use them with the Silhouette or Cricut. But that has changed, so bring on the white gel pens, and all the details that go with them!

I actually used my Silhouette for this card, as it was out and I did want to show what a good job that little machine does with writing with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder and gel pens. Now, this isn't my good white gel pen as my son "borrowed" it and it never made its way back to me! But it still did the job!

I got both of these snow men in the Silhouette Studio downloads, they are actually sketches, notice the single lines. The font I used for happy birthday is Amy La, I downloaded it for free online at Kevin & Amanda, fonts for peas. She has some AMAZING free fonts, and this one is a single line journaling font, perfect for sketching! And using the cut line setting in Studio, you can turn any solid line into a stitched line!

Baby it's cold outside with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder for the Cricut

I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a WHITE gel pen in the Cricut Expression2. I drew the snowflake background with Cricut Craftroom and Doodletype.

I also used Doodletype to design the baby it's cold outside title.

I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder (you could also do this with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder as well) to draw the journaling circle. These were some I had on hand as I have a lot of them lying around and make a bunch at a time.

I used some chipboard stickers by Imaginesce to finish this page, as well as some glittery ribbon!

Fun fall layout with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

I used the same leaves as yesterday's layout using the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder for the Silhouette/Cameo to hold a stylus and emboss on a metal sheet. I then sanded the raised image for this look.

My journaling circle is a design I created in Silhouette Studio and then drew with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder and a Chomas Creations mini gel pen (metallic black in the assorted pack). You can download the file for it here... journaling circle

I cut the title from a Silhouette Studio file.

And here is the finished page with tons of pictures in a collage! Notice my scraps of paper are also in a collage. I'm running to the end of this line of paper, but still needed it for a fall page, no scrap to small to add on! This is a great way to use up those scraps of paper!

Falling leaves with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

So I printed all these fall pics, then got too busy to scrap them, but I want to get them done! So instead of winter/Christmas pics, I'm finishing my fall lol!
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder to hold a stylus and then embossed on a metal sheet. I then cut around the leaves with scissors and then sanded the raised surface. The leaf designs are from Silhouette Studio.

I cut the title with another Silhouette Studio file.

Here is the finished page, along with my daugther enjoying the leaves.

Raking Leaves layout with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder & no bleed Sharpie pens!

Something I always do when I come to a pen or marker aisle in the store is see if I can find something new to try in the Chomas Creations adjustable holders! Well I found these no bleed Sharpie markers on my last trip to Staples, and they came in a 5 pack of different colors!

I know I'm a bit behind on my fall pages, as it has snowed here twice in the last 3 days, but I wanted this one done as I had it printed and ready to go!
So I figured these would be perfect for drawing on cardstock! Especially the no bleed part which sometimes we have trouble with, with the die cut machines and bleeding. So I put them to the test in the Expression 2 and the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder, and low and behold, no bleeding!! And these are small leaves I drew, less then 1 inch tall, so they have very fine details!

I also used the Chomas Creations min gel pens (they fit in both the adjustable pen holder and the mini gel pen holder) to draw the journaling lines for this page, you can see how I did that here... journaling lines

The title I put together in Cricut Craft room. I've been having a lot more luck with the Expression 2 getting the finer details in my cuts, sorry, just saying! The title is from Cindy Loo.

Now that's a tree with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

When you look at these pictures, keep in mind the beams in my house are 10 feet tall, and the ceilings are 12 feet tall, so the tree we got passed up the beams and my hubby had to trim the top to get the star on so it didn't hit the ceiling. My dining room table is to the right of the tree and my poor 17 year old daughter could barely pull out her chair. Funny thing is when I talked to her this morn about this layout, she said she wanted a tree that big again hehe! And it was almost as wide as it was tall! I swear it didn't look that big outside hehe!

I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a glue pen to draw the tree (it was a Studio download) and then sprinkled it with glitter. While I did this with the Silhouette adjustable holders, it would work the same with the Cricut adjustable holders.
While the glitter does stay on, you can't rub against it or the glitter will come off. Live and learn hehe! I had to repair some spots!

I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder to do the journaling strips with the Chomas Creations mini gel pens, of course you could also fit them in the adjustable pen holder. I just had some that were done already on hand!

New Chomas Creations adjustable holders in the Cricut Expression

I've had a lot of people ask if the new Chomas Creations adjustable holders work in the Cricut original, Create, Expression and Imagine and the answer is YES! Of course you are going to have to find shorter pens, markers, even crayons or pencils, but they will work! Here is one of the Crayola Pip Squeak Skinnies in the Expression. They are a bit longer, so you will need to tighten the marker in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder, put the popcycle stick under where it will go into the blade holder, then tilt the marker a bit to get it under the lip of the Cricut and adjust the height of the marker so the tip is resting on the popcycle stick, this will give you the right height.

When using the Pip Squeaks, because they are a bit longer then the Chomas Creations mini gel pens, your design will have to remain 2 inches to the right of the lip I've shown below, it is on the left hand side of the Expression machine.

And here is the finished card! I used Christmas Cheer for the Merry Christmas sentiment and the card shape.

I used the Chomas Creations embossing tip to score the fold in the card.

I did use Design Studio to do this card. By adding the embossing rectangle on one layer, and the actual card cut on another, you can easily score any card! I have another tutorial on scoring a card with the Chomas Creations embossing tip here... score tutorial

That is what it is lovingly referred to around our house! I found this pink tree at a great price and couldn't pass it up! And I had some pretty glitter ornaments left over from the millions (ok, so maybe a little less then that hehe) I made that I added to the pink tree! I just thought this was too fun not to share with you! And the kids had a blast decorating it with me because it was just their height hehe! Now to find a pink tree skirt!

Think Pink card with Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder for the Silhouette/Cameo

If there is one thing my mom loves, it is pink and pink flamingos, ok, 2, but they go hand and hand hehe! If you read my blog you probably already know this!!! Also I have the winner picked for the Disney/Pixar blog hop, just scroll down!
Now some of you may know I got the Cameo, and I found out I could use it with Sure Cuts a Lot, so I downloaded SCAL 3 (I didn't replace SCAL 2 on my computer, so I can still use that with my Cricut) and went to town! I had this pink flamingo image from awhile back for SCAL and gave it a go!
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder for the Silhouette/Cameo with a Bic Mark-It (these are permanent markers that come in fine tip and ultra fine tip & in so many pretty colors!) to draw the pink flamingo and think pink on clear cardstock (thicker then transparency, so it will stand up like a card should!) Then without taking the mat out of the Cameo, I cut the clear cardstock in a scallop pattern (I did have to cut twice to get all the way through). The top card shows the pink shadow from the front of the card that I drew on, it isn't really on the cardstock in back! Pretty cool, a pink shadow!

Holy glitter ornaments Batman!

If you are looking for the Disney/Pixar blog hop, scroll down to the next post (of course you can take your time looking at the glittery ornaments on the way hehe!)

Well my craft show was yesterday and I wanted to try out the glitter ornaments (I've been wanting to for a couple of years now!), so I gave it a shot! My kids even got to help, well until they got bored!
These were super easy to do!
All you need is...
Clear glass ornaments
Pledge with Future Shine (yes floor wax, in my house! it is a clear bottle with a blue lid)
Ultra fine glitter

And it is as simple as 1,2,3...
1. Swish the floor wax around the inside of the glass ornament, poor out the excess
2. Add the glitter, shake around, and poor out excess
3. Add ribbon and vinyl!

Of course you can skip #3, but I didn't want to! Notice how all my designs are thin lettering or snowflakes, any thick, solid filled design will be near impossible to get onto a round bulb. Stick with delicate shapes like what I chose here.

Disney/Pixar Blog hop!

I'm so excited to be a part of another Disney/Pixar blog hop! This is a great bunch of ladies that always come up with amazing ideas to share with everyone! Being we are getting close to the holidays (eeeek!) I wanted to work on a Christmas page for my youngest, who had a very Toy Story Christmas! He just loved the movie Toy Story, and really liked Buzz Lightyear, so we loaded him up with all the Toy Story goodies he asked for!
Some of you may already know that I'm the Amy Chomas from Chomas Creations and we make MINI gel pen & Sharpie holders. Well that is about to change, well just the mini part! We now have adjustable pen & marker holders that hold a bunch of different pens and markers, how exciting is that? And no limit to height when you use the Silhouette, Cameo or Expression 2!
I know a lot of people want to use markers on their pages, but the Sharpie markers would bleed into cardstock, well bring on the Sharpie paint markers! No bleeding into cardstock! I found this Toy Story coloring page online and used Make-the-Cut to trace it, then used the thin paths feature to get rid of the double lines. Then I used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder with the Sharpie paint marker to draw the image onto my background paper.

Here is what the Sharpie paint markers look like in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder inside of the Cameo, of course I used black. I found them so far at Michael's, JoAnns and Hobby Lobby.

Turned out pretty cool, eh? I also used Make-the-Cut to trace the toy story title to add to my page. I added some small letter stickers to finish the title.

I added a few Christmas touches and my pictures to finish the page!

I love school layout with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

Did I mention that the Chomas Creations mini gel pens still fit in the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder? This can give you a cheaper variety of 20 different gel pens in metallic, pastel and glitter!
And did I mention that the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder does an amazing job with journaling in small fonts? Check this out! There are some fonts out there that look like single lined fonts that work great for journaling, this is called Altera.

I used the Cameo for this page so I could draw the entire background page also with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder! Look how smooth it is close up...

I also used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder to draw the title and goodies on this page, then colored them in with the Copic markers! And look, no smearing!

Here is the finished page along with my daughter in kindergarten! And she really does love school! I hope that love remains for lots of years to come!

The other day when I was making Happy Holidays embossed designs with the Chomas Creations embossing kit on Ten Seconds Studios metal sheets, I did a bunch at the same time! I added glitter to the raised image side that was embossed, then sanded off the raised image to make the design pop! Here are some more cards that look just a bit different then the last set I did! Because I had smaller scraps this time, I cut the paper into smaller pieces and got more cards out of it!

The biggest problem with Sharpie markers is that they bleed into paper, well bring on the Sharpie paint markers! You can use them with any cardstock and they will not bleed! So I used the Sharpie paint markers in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder for the Expression 2.

I used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder to draw the sentiment on the tags for these cards! And look, no bleeding! These were the glitter Sharpie paint markers.

The papers and chipboard stickers on these is all from Cosmo Cricket.

Happy Holidays cards with Chomas Creations embossing kit

I'm making some Christmas cards for a craft show I'm doing! I figure if they don't sell, then I can mail them out hehe!

For these cards I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit with the new Expression 2 to emboss my sentiment.

Believe it or not, these were kinda a mistake! I always say when you use the Chomas Creations embossing kit to emboss words with the Cricut, you need to flip the images. Well I FORGOT!!! And the worst part was this was the Ten Seconds Studio metal sheets that are adhesive on one side! Of course that left the sticky side up! So I though, what if I take some glitter and add it to the raised image. So I did, and then I sanded some off the raised image so you could see it better, and it looks soooo cool! Ok, I will admit, it was MESSY! Very MESSY! And glitter was on everyone in the room after awhile hehe! But look how cool...

I'm sure if you can't find adhesive metal sheets you could always use adhesive spray to do the same thing!

The sentiment is from Lyrical Letters, I used Cricut Craftroom to do these.

And I added some rectangles to Cricut Craftroom to cut all the rectangles for these cards to make it a quick process! Click on the image to enlarge it!

My Gramps is an amazing man. He has some amazing pictures from serving in World War II as well as a very sharp memory that he can give you dates, locations and such. I wanted to honor him in a special page for Veteran's Day, and here it is! My Gramps was honorably discharged from the army in 1944 when he was hit in the leg with shrapnel in Germany. He went to a veteran's lunch last week, and people were amazed that this 92 year old man was there. My Gramps is an amazing man, like no one you've ever met before, so kind hearted, easy going, and he never complains! I love that man!

Aaaah the color pink, I love it! And you will love this idea hehe! The Sharpie paint markers will not bleed into cardstock! So you can use them with the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holders for both the Silhouette/Cameo and Cricut to hold the Sharpie paint markers and draw on cardstock!

Here is the Sharpie paint marker in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder in the Cameo. Notice I used a popcycle stick to adjust for height.

For this layout I used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder for the SIlhouette/Cameo to draw the title and journaling right on the 12x12 background paper in the Cameo. I used my speed around 7 and my thickness around 9.

Here is my mom with my kids, supporting her flamingo habit with some funny dollar store sunglasses! I'm sure some of these flamingo pics will be on her Christmas cards this year hehe!

Of couse this page called for pink buttons and pink ribbon!

Embossing with the new Chomas Creations adjustable holder

So I have a stylus sitting around here, and I wanted to see what it could do with the new Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder for the Silhouette/Cameo. I put it into the machine, and it embossed beautifully! I'm very impressed! Of course this still means you will need an embossing mat, but if you are buying the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder, you can use a stylus you have setting around to emboss with!

I used Ten Second Studios metal sheets to emboss on. While it turned out fantastic on metal sheets and vellum, the Cameo still does not have enough power to emboss on paper.

I've always loved the look of white gel pen on black cardstock! Now that the Expression2 is out, and there is no lip to block the height of the pens you put in the machine, Chomas Creations now has an adjustable pen and marker holder for it! So I used the new Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder to hold the Uniball WHITE gel pen. I used multi-cut of 2 to make it look even whiter. This is from the Cindy Loo cartridge.

The dots are all Viva Decor, love how that stuff stays poofy!

Do you see that white gel pen on black paper? Are you wondering how in the world I did it?? hehe! Well Chomas Creations is now offering an adjustable pen holder that can hold any pen you have just sitting around! In this case I used the white Uniball gel pen with the Cameo.

I'm so excited to make this announcement! We are now going to offer some adjustable holders for the Cricut & Silhouette/Cameo in the Chomas Creations store! Keep in mind these are a pre-order & will ship on or before November 23, 2011.
The concept is simple, for the adjustable holders there is no top to them to hold the marker in place. Instead there will be a screw that you tighten around the object you want to put in the holder.
The Cricut holders will be pink, this is my prototype made by hand by my hubby! The Silhouette/Cameo holders will be silver and are shown further below, but work along the same lines as these shown.
This is the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Cricut Expression 2 & Cricut Mini. Figuring out the height is easy! I used a popcycle stick under the pen to adjust the height. And it also protects the paper from getting drawn on! Then you simple tighten (but don't over tighten) the screw in front! We made the screw nice and long so you won't have a hard time reaching it!

And do you see what I see? Yes that is a WHITE gel pen on black paper! Think of all the possibilities! Or how about I take a picture of a few for you with the gel pen holder!

See that glue stick pen? Oh boy did I want to try it out, but mine has been sitting so long it was all dried out hehe! I also fit in full sized gel pens, ball point pens, and of course the Chomas Creations mini gel pens (for more color variety and of course glitter!) and Staples mini gel pens.

But wait, there is MORE! More you say???

How about a marker holder as well? It will use the same concept as the gel pen holder to fit in the machine. And look at all of the wonderful goodies I found that fit in it! I'm sure you can find even more as these are just what I have lying around!

And for those of you that own the Cricut, Create, Expression and Imagine, these will fit in the machine, you just have to find gel pens or markers short enough to fit under the lip where the keyboard is.

Rhinestone T time!

Oh boy, did I have fun yesterday making some rhinestone T's for my daughter!
For this one I used the thin paths feature in Make-the-Cut to thin my alphabet, then I used the rhinestone feature to make all the little circles.

Last year she was a bumble bee so I made her a bumble bee T, this year a butterfly, so I made a butterfly T for her to wear! Look at all the bling! This one and the rest were done with files I downloaded for Silhouette Studio.

Spidey layout with Chomas Creations engraving tip for the Silhouette

More Halloween pages! Got to get last years done before this Halloween rolls around hehe!
My son is in LOVE with Spiderman, so he knew that is what he had to be for Halloween! And being he was Spidey, I wanted a Halloween page with spiderwebs and spiders! Being I used the Cameo, I got to make a full 12x12 sheet of background paper! I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip for the Silhouette to etch these spiderwebs into Core'dinations cardstock. They were the free download for the week with Studio. The engraving tip is available for pre-order in the Chomas Creation's store now!

The title was done with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette. I then cut around it with the blade, that new click blade in the Cameo is AMAZING! If you are just keeping your Silhouette or Silhouette SD and want better cutting, it will fit in those machines to.

My daughter had her eyes on this bear for a long time, but being it is HUGE, I refused to get it for her, thinking of how many stuffed animals we have in our house. Well along comes Auntie Kristie, and all bets are off! She had to get this for her birthday, and now the HUGE bear resides in our house!

Canvas portraits by Easy Canvas Prints

I have a post that is a bit different for you today! I was contacted by Easy Canvas Prints where they can turn your Photos to Canvas to try out there service. I don't know if any of you know this, but I am a photographer (in my spare time hehe) and I just did my daughter's senior pictures, so this could not have come at a better time!
I decided to do a 12x18 canvas. Easy Canvas Prints was super easy to navigate, and if I could have figured out which picture to choose (I had a lot of favorites, hehe) it would have gone even quicker! I chose to do the wrap around in 3/4 inch, and to do the image wrap, which is just the same as my image wrapped around the sides (this means you do have to have enough space around your main subject so you don't cut any part of them off). Here is a picture up close of the image wrapped around so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

You can also choose to mirror your print if you don't have enough room around your subject, or add a color around the oustide instead. The process took maybe 10 minutes start to finish so for sure it was an easy canvas print.

I edit my photos ahead of time, but you can use their site to edit, and even zoom in on your photo and move it around. You can also choose to change your photo to black and white, and even have them do minor retouching for you!

I was also amazed at how well my canvas print was packaged! There was a lot of extra room around it for shipping so it arrived safe with no dinged up corners.

All in all I'm very impressed! I'm going to have to go back and get some of the rest of my kidlets and do a collage on my wall! This was a great start though!

Here is a page I did using the Chomas Creations engraving tip for the Silhouette with Core'dinations cardstock on the bottom half.

Using the exact same file I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette to draw the top half of this layout.

Kalahari layout with Chomas Creations engraving tip

Last year for my mom's 60th birthday all of her kids, spouses and their kids took her to the Kalahari in Ohio to celebrate! We had an AMAZING time! I highly recommend it there, tons of fun things to do!
I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip with MTC and Core'dinations cardstock to make the title and leaves on this page. You use the engraving tip with a regular Cricut mat, I like to use a multi cut of 2, and then give my designs a light sanding.

I also used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder with MTC to add journaling lines right on my page! I actually did it when the pictures and ribbon and paper were already on my page as a last minute thing! It worked awesome, and I'll be trying it again! And look how much easier it is to keep everything in line! Lots of room for journaling!

I made this a 2 page layout as I had a ton of pictures I needed to add!

Cider mill with Chomas Creations embossing kit

One of our favorite family fall traditions is a trip to the cider mill! Nothing like a cold cider and warm doughnuts! And then of course you have to walk it off hehe!
I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit for the Cricut to emboss the border title for this page using From the Kitchen and Lyrical Letters. You can get the border to use for download here... cider mill

Birthday cards with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder

Here are a bunch of cards I made with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder. By adding a bunch of different tags to draw out, then adding another layer to cut them, I made a ton of tags in no time, with very minimal work!

I start with the page to draw and add the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder to the Cricut machine and draw the birthday sentiments.

Then without removing the mat from the machine, I carefully remove the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and add the blade and cut the next page. Notice the square around the bracket shapes. It was easier for me to just leave them, and they don't get in the way. Sometimes easy is good!

You are left with 12 birthday sentiments to add to cards! While these were drawing, I was working on adding paper and ribbon to all my cards! This was quite a quick way to get that many cards done!
I had a bunch of birthday decorations that I added to these cards.

I used Design Studio with Once Upon A Princess for the designs, which you can download here... princess crowns Notice when you download that if you want the words made by single letters (I used the font from Once Upon A Princess to make the word princess) in Design Studio to face the right way, you have to write the word backwards, then click on it and use the flip feature.
Here is a close up of the princess crown!

I added some circles with an embossed outer edge so you could see the stickers better.

And here are the frames! The paper, ribbon and stickers are all Imaginesce.

Square1 printable vinyl

Recently I was given some Square1 printable vinyl to give a try. Let me first tell you that it is like no other printable vinyl I have seen. First off it is textured, and for those that know me, you know I love my texture (ok so I've been referred to as a texture snob, hehe). 2nd, it is nice and thick! And 3rd it is removable and replacable. 2 and 3 go together because you can move it over and over again!
I did use mine with some cute print and cut images from Silhouette. My printer worked awesome with it, and as you can see the close up, the colors are nice and bright! (I did start to take the top sticker off and realized I should take a pic first, so I had to stick it back on, that is why it has that lump!)

My idea was to cover up this old sticker that won't come off the glass on my window from the 1950's but I didn't make it quite big enough! I thought as the kids walked out of the door everyday they could see these cute messages!

So if you are looking for some awesome printable vinyl to use with your Silhouette or even your Imagine, Square1 is the place to go for sure. Detroit Tigers with Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder & embossing kit

OOoh today is game 4 for the Tigers, and I'm ready for the win! So I thought I would scrap a page of the Tigers game we went to with all 4 of my kids this summer. While I would love to say it went smoothly, it kinda didn't as my youngest was too young to deal with baseball, especially at 8:30 pm, eeeek! But we did have fun, and the Tigers did smoke 'em! 18-2! WOW!

First I drew the baseball border with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder & the black metallic mini gel pen. As you can see you can get very fine details!

Then I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit to make the "D" designs as well. I flipped the blue metal sheet face down and then sanded the raised image. Make-the-Cut now has a dashed line feature and I used it on this image!

Here is the finished page! We got lucky to go to such an action packed game where the Tigers won 18-2! There were lots of hits and home runs and waves and junk food and fun! Well for the adults, the 2 littlest didn't much care for it hehe!

Ok, I had a ton of fun with these frames (minus the burns on my finger tips from the hot glue gun, eeek! Turning your head to see what your daughter is trying to show you while using hot glue is a BAD idea!)

Christmas frames with Chomas Creations engraving tip

Hey believe it or not, here are even more frames hehe! I don't usually like to do anything Christmas before Halloween, but I made an exception this year hehe!
I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip on Shimmer Sheetz for all the sentiments. The sheets go right on a regular Cricut mat, so you can use a blade to cut around this material when you are done engraving them. Loving me some tinsel!!
This frame used the Lyrical Letters cartridge. The papers are October Afternoon. The tinsel is Melissa Frances.

The cartidge on this one is also Lyrical Letters. The papers are all Imaginesce. The ribbon is Making Memories.

I used the Winter Woodland cart on this one. The papers are October Afternoon.

Halloween frames with Chomas Creations embossing kit & engraving tip

I like to show the difference between the Chomas Creations embossing kit & the Chomas Crations engraving tip from time to time using the same image, so you can get a better idea of what they each do! With the Chomas Creations embossing kit you get a raised image on things such as metal or vellum. Here I used it on a metal sheet to make the spooky title and the embossed cirlce image. I sanded the raised image to give it this look.

I used the Chomas Creations engraving tips with Core'dinations cardstock on these frames to do the spooky title and circles.

I decided to try something a bit different this time and added some Mod Podge to the engraved cardstock to see what would happen, and I really like how it glossied it up just a bit.

Notice the difference? One is more for embossing (leaving a raised surface with the Chomas Creations embossing kit), and the other for engraving, or etching (scratching into the material with the Chomas Creations engraving tip).
If you have ever looked at the tips together, they do have different tips to them. The Chomas Creations embossing tip is an aluminum tip, which the Chomas Creations engraving tip has a tip made of carbide.
Here are all 4 of the finished Halloween frames I did! The papers and goodies are all Making Memories.

Boy frame with Chomas Creations embossing kit

More frames for the craft show I'm going to be doing. I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit to emboss the circle designs behind the cars on this one. I love the way that a simple circle can make anything pop of your frame, or page! I'm sure you see circles often on my projects!
I've been sealing all my frames with Mod Podge matte to protect them, and I wanted to see what happened when I went over the metal with the Mod Podge. Well as you can see it shined it right up! It was a bit dull after sanding. The papers and stickers are all Echo Park.

Ok, so I will admit I was excited about this idea, but not as excited as my daughter when she saw it! I'm trying to get her to sort toys by matching bins, and of course I could just label them, but I thought, how cute would it be to use the actual logo from the toys? And I've been on a vinyl kick lately, so I used google to search for each logo, then traced them in Make-the-Cut. There were a lot more details to some of these designs then I thought, so I figured, why not draw those details with the Chomas Creations mini Sharpie holders instead? When she saw them, she immediately told me she needed more for the rest of her toys, but this was a good start!

My nephew just loves the movie Cars, so I knew I had to make him a card for his birthday with Lightning McQueen. I used Make-the-Cut's trace feature to trace a coloring page I downloaded from the internet, then used the Chomas Creations embossing kit to emboss the design on a metal sheet. I can't wait to see how excited he is to get this card!
I'm also trying to use up some of my stash, so I added some square brads I've had around forever as well! The paper is Echo Park.

Halloween frame with Chomas Creations engraving tip

I simply layered the circles in Design Studio with George then etched them onto Core'dinations cardstock, then lightly sanded them.

Fall apple frame with Chomas Creations embossing kit

I was so lucky to have a friend come over and do some "craft talk" last night! We were working on frames for a craft show we are doing together. She got 10 started (we are going to embellish today) and I got 9 started, that is quite an accomplishment when you think of what happens when you get together with friends to do crafty stuff!
Here is one of the frames I did last night! I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit for the Cricut with Create a Critter to emboss the apples.
People often ask me about the Chomas Creations embossing kit, and what to do with an image you emboss. This is my favorite thing to do, put a circle or 2 around the image, then cut around it. Any pair of scissors will easily cut through the metal sheets, and it even sharpens your scissors in the process! I also add squares, or ovals around my images, or cut around the image as a silhouette if it isn't too fancy. The possibilities are endless!

Little man layout with Chomas Creations embossing kit

Some of you may know that my youngest is a handful! Or you may have figured it out from some of the layouts I've done about him, hehe! Well here is another example, I was trying to get some photos of him on his 5th birthday, and can you believe this is the best one I got? Well I can believe it!

I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit on Ten Second Studio's metal sheets. If you put the colored side of the metal sheet down on the mat, when you flip them over you can sand the raised image to get this look.

I used Boys Will Be Boys for the title as well.

Just cause I think my journaling is funny...

Challenges card with Chomas Creations embossing kit

I have a friend that is going through a bit of a rough patch, so I wanted a bright, cheery card to make her day!
I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit on a vellum sheet (I picked up a 40 pack of 12x12 sheets at Michaels for under $10 with a coupon!). The flowers are from Lettering Delights, I used Make-the-Cut, loving that they have Lettering Delights hooked up to them now, I would have never thought of these flowers!

A friend of mine needed a quick card for her Spongebob loving son's birthday! I have the Spongebob cartridge, and the best day ever was on it, perfect for a kid's birthday! I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder with DS and Spongebob to layer and draw the sentiment. Then I used the Copic markers (look no smearing!) to color it in! For a finishing touch I added some yellow Stickles as well.

Boy frames with Chomas Creations embossing kit

By putting the metal sheets colored side down and embossing them with the Chomas Creations embossing kit, then cutting them out with any old pair of scissors, you can then sand the raised image to make it POP!
The papers and stickers on these are all Echo Park. I had a lot of fun with these frames, adding buttons and ribbon!
The sentiment on the inside of the frame was done with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder.

While I didn't use any of the Chomas Creations goodies on this frame, I really liked how it turned out and figured I would share this one as well!

Ok, so sometimes I like how a card turns out so much I try using the inspiration for a layout! It is hard to come up with loads of ideas all the time, so why not???

I used the DS file here... out of this world file to make a card (see post below), and then changed the file up a bit to make a 12x12 layout with it! The card file and the layout file are both in that same download.
I used the Chomas Creations micro Sharpie holder to draw the title on Colorbok metallic sheets (I got 2 of them sized 12x12 at Target in the scrapbook aisle).

Puppy love again with the Chomas Creations engraving tip

Some of you may think this layout looks a bit similar. Well I decided to recycle a file I've already done, and use it in a girly way instead of for a boy this time! You can see the original puppy love, as well as get the download here... puppy love layout

One of the things I've done for years with my background paper, is to remove part of it behind my pictures to conserve paper, and even to use for a matching title! With the Core'dinations cardstock, one side is brown or black, and the other is a color. So when I use the Chomas Creations engraving tip to etch in the Core'dinations, I can use the colored backside to match perfectly! This is easier then you think! First I place my pictures where they will be on my layout, and mark with a colored pen behind them so I know where to cut!

Then with my Fiskars trimmer, I know exactly where to cut to remove that paper. The backside of this is pink and I used it to cut my title. The Fiskars works best for this because of how you can position your blade in the middle of the paper.

As I have said already, I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip to get this look on Core'dinations cardstock. I then lightly sanded the whole background sheet to really make the bones POP!

I used Doodletype for the title. THe title is also include in the puppy love download.

I always have these journaling circles laying around that have been done with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for some quick journaling.

Here is the finished layout with my girl and her (well my hehe) new puppy! She is in love!

Little brother layout with Chomas Creations embossing kit

One of the happiest days of my 13 year old's life was when he grew taller then his 17 year old big sister! It happened last summer, but this picture is funny as you can see the 6 inches he has on her even better!
I've been scrappin over 13 years now! I have a lot of scrap crap (as I refer to it) and sometimes I go on a "use up my stash" kick, so that is just what I did! I went through my stash and found all these Making Memories brads that I added to the page! I forgot I had them! If you want to jump in on some of these use up your scrap crap challenges, feel free!!
One of my favorite files I made for Design Studio with George was the graph paper, I use it time and again. You can get that download here... graph paper download
I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit with Ten Second Studios metal sheets for this page. After I embossed the page, I used a black StayzOn to rub ink over the top of the raised images.

Once again for some quick journaling I grabbed some of the journaling circles I made with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder. You can see the tutorial for that here... journaling circles

I used Plantin for the title which was welded in Design Studio.

Here is the completed layout with my daughter and her "little" brother hehe! The gears are Tim Holtz, the brads are Making Memories, and the paper is Basic Grey.

Polka dot frame with the Chomas Creations engraving tip

Yet another frame for a craft show I'll be doing! Be prepared to see a lot of them hehe!
For this one I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip with a scroll from the Cindy Loo cartridge on Shimmer Sheetz (they are like a silver mylar, very cool!) by Elizabeth Craft Designs. As you can see the engraving tip etches into the sheetz!

I also used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder to make the sentiment for the inside of the frame.

I needed a card for a friend with a bit of a pick me up and this is what I came up with!
I used the card file that is available for the Silhouette using the Chomas Creations embossing kit to score the card here... card score tutorial
I also used the Chomas Creations embossing kit to make the flower design on metal on the card.

The life is grand stamp is from my friend Kristal over at K Andrew designs from the Positive Thoughts stamp set. I used StayzOn ink so that I could stamp on the metal sheet without it smearing.

Mazie layout with Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette

How could I resist doing a page with my new puppy Mazie? And of course what puppy page would be complete without puppy paws?? You can download the puppy paws file for Silhouette Studio here... puppy paws
I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette to draw the puppy paws as my background page. I just love the look of the black metallic mini gel pen on kraft paper! Aren't they super cute?

I also used the paws with the Chomas Creations embossing kit for the Silhouette to emboss on a metal sheet.

I found this yorkie download in the Silhouette store and played with it a bit for the title! I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette to draw the design, then the Copic markers to color it in! Look no smearing!

Did some quick journaling on one of the journaling circles I have lying around that I made with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the SIlhouette as well! You can see a tutorial and a download for that here... journaling circles for Silhouette

Back to school with Chomas Creations mini Sharpie holder

It is that time of year again! Time for my favorite commercial... It's the most wonderful time of the year, they're going back... back to school! Where the dad is dancing down the aisles... hehe They should really use a mom in that commercial!

Being I have 4 kids that go to school each year, I get a bit behind on these back to school layouts! So this is from last year, my daughter on her way to kindergarten. You can get the Design Studio file for this page here... back to school
I used the Chomas Creations mini Sharpie holder to do the border and accents on this page on cork board. Yes corkboard!! There are so many surfaces out there that the mini Sharpies will write on that normal markers just can't handle! This corkboard is by Quickutz. They are 4x12 self adhesive sheets.

I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder to make my own lined paper! I used the file here for the horizontal lines, that I usually use for my journaling circles.... journaling circles I drew all the lines in the Chomas Creations light blue glitter mini gel pen.

The back to school file has the vertical lines, I used the Chomas Creations red glitter mini gel pen for these.

This also made for some easy journaling on the page!

I designed the title with a shadow and cut it out of red and green paper. The title is also on the back to school download.

Here is the completed layout! The ribbon is Imaginesce. And of course the patterned paper was made by me hehe!

Princess frame with Chomas Creations embossing kit

Another one of my frames for the craft show (if I can let this one go hehe!).
I loved how the castle turned out on this card I made here... princess card You can also get the download for it on that link. Being I put all that work into the file, I figured why not use it again?? So I did! I embossed it with the Chomas Creations embossing kit on a metal sheet. Being it was an odd shape and I didn't want it to bend, I added it to a circle that was cut out of chipboard, and that I had added a piece of patterned paper on.
I got the "princess" wood word from Michaels, it was already painted pink. I added some crystal lacquer to the top of the word, then sprinkled glitter on it. The glitter absorbed into the crystal lacquer and now I don't have to worry about it sprinkling off!
The papers and ribbon are all Imaginesce.

Puppy bows!!

Ok, so not my normal kind of post, but it was fun, and I wanted to share hehe!
I picked up these puppy bows that were pre-made, but I thought they were kind of plain. I had all these pretty stitched brads by Basic Grey, but they were brads, so I took my wire cutters to cut the brad parts off.

Then I used my hot glue gun to add the brads to my bows.

Here are the bows I got done tonight, I'm sharing with my sister's morkie, hehe!

And here is my super model with her new bow! Pay no attention to the messy face hehe! Oh and my sweet daughter was helping me as my super model kept trying to wander away!
