I finally got the chance to do an artist printers tray for ME!!! I've been wanting to for a long time. I ordered the white one, you can see it here... white tray
I love love love the look of the embossing on the metal sheets and thought it would be perfect for what I wanted to do. The Ten Seconds Studio line of metal has some awesome colors that match all of the recent pattern paper lines.
To get this embossed look on the metal sheets, you have to flip them color side down onto the embossing mat, emboss using your Cricut, then sand off the debossed side. I love that look!
I picked a few of the designs that I loved from Graphically Speaking, flipped them in Design Studio, embossed them onto the metal sheets, then in order to get them just right in size, I made a template using transpency the size of the slots in the printers tray, inked the edges, then I could put the transparency on top of my designs to figure out exactly where I wanted it. I then used an embossing tip to trace around the transparency and used that guide line to cut out my design.

Here is my finished project! I used Basic Grey's Green at Heart line of patterned papers & embellishments for finishing touches.
