More Spice then Sugar with the Chomas Creations embossing kit

My husband found this note my daughter had wrote to her brother and his friend (keep in mind her brother can't quite read yet).  For those that struggle with 6 year old hand writing, this says "please knock boys but if you do knock you still can't come in".  That girl just cracks me up sometimes hehe!!  I had to include the note on my page, so I sprayed it with some make it acid free spray.  Did you know they make that stuff???  It is by Krylon!
Now if that isn't the start of a great scrapbook memory, I don't know what is hehe!!!
Next I embossed the princess crowns with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a stylus and the embossing mat on Ten Second Studios metal sheets.  If you add the colored metal side down and emboss, you can then sand your raised image!
The title was done with Silhouette fuzzy vinyl.  No they do not have this pretty blue color in fuzzy vinyl,. but I used some Glimmer Mist sprayed on the fuzzy vinyl to get this pretty blue!
I was testing my lighting for a senior photo shoot I had to do, and popped my daughter on the backdrop for some quick pictures, so this one came in super handy for this page!  The papers, ribbon and stickers are all Imaginesce.

Explore One owners did you hear the news??

You asked for it, so here it is!  The engraver for the Explore One!  This is on pre-order in the Chomas Creations store here...  Explore One engraver  It will be shipping on or before 2-15.
Now engrave what you would normally cut with the Explore One.  If it fits under the rollers, I'm going to try to engrave on it!  The top is light weight aluminum and the tip is made of hard carbide.  Here is a sample I did with the engraver.  As soon as I get more time I am going to sit and play even more!

On the go with Chomas Creations embossing kit

Warning:  this is a very busy layout!!!  But it was made for a very busy boy, hehe!  And when I say busy, I mean busy, don't at all that the photo on this layout fool you!
I used a stylus in the adjustable pen holder for the Cricut with Boys Will Be Boys to make all of the arrows for this page.  I embossed them on Ten Seconds Studios metal sheets, then sanded them.
I also used Boys will be boys to do the title on this page.
I used the adjustable pen holder to do the journaling lines.
Here is the busy completed page, along with my sweet boy!  The papers and chipboard are all My Mind's Eye.

Getting oily with the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

I just love when the kids are interested in what I'm doing to improve our family's health and aren't fighting me every step of the way (like they did with cutting out a lot of the junk food, but that is a whole other story lol!)  So Ella now knows about using peppermint essential oil on tummy aches and lavender essential oil on bruises and booboos and a mix I made for the kids to help with achy legs, also with the essential oils.  Smart little girl!
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a Sakura Moonlight Gelly pen in the Cameo to draw the title.  My speed was set to 3 and my pressure to 10, but I found without a mat I should probably lighten the pressure on drawing.  Yes, without a mat!  I moved the white rollers on my machine over to load my 12x12 paper into the machine.  The font is Sketch Serif.

I also used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder to draw these journaling circles.  You can get the file and see how I did these here...  journaling circles
Here is the completed pages!  I got some fun new embellies that I had to add on!

Chomas Creations engraving tip on aluminum tags!

Great news! I've been asked quite a few times where to find engravable metal to use with the Chomas Creations engraving tip, and here it is! Karen Hamski told me all about  Ohax Industries, Inc.and they have tons of colors and sizes of these metal tags that are made out of aluminum so they are nice and light weight! If you are interested in a 21 piece sample pack for $16.50  check it out here... sample pack.  And the owner says he will work with us crafters if we have special sizes we would like. I asked him about smaller sizes for dog tags and he is getting on it! This was my first try at a tag with these aluminum tags, a tag to go on my son's basketball bag. I did delete my phone number on this, there are no marks on the tag as they all come with a protective cover.  The font I used on this tag is called Campbell.
So who wants to know how I got the engraving on that tag to line up? Well have I got a tutorial for you!
First create your rectangle, circle, square or another easy shape to recreate in Studio.  In a few days I will have a tutorial for what to do when you really want to engrave on an object that is an odd shape.
The tag I am using is 2x3 inches.  Put that on your virtual mat.  **Notice how I am not putting the tag too close to where the rollers are going to be, I have it moved over 2 inches.  You may even need to center your tag to get the best engraving possible.  This just worked for me.  If it ends up close to or under the rollers, it will not work.

I use glue dots on the back of my tag to hold it in place on my mat.  **You can try a test cut or draw  the rectangle shape before you add your tag to the mat if you are nervous (this is optional, you can just add the tag to your mat lined up with your virtual mat, but this may save some frustration in the end, and it is pretty quick!)

Now I want to turn off the cut lines for when I am engraving. To do this first click on the image of the scissors (1), then click on your image, in this case the tag & small circle (2), and then click on no cut (3).  You can see the design I am going to be engraving on this image.

You can add any text or designs you would like to the Silhouette Studio file.
Now add the Chomas Creations engraving tip to the Cameo.  I used a thickness of 33, a speed of 4, and checked double cut and let the machine do its work!
And here is the tag completed.  This is the silver super mirror.

Now when my youngest son saw this tag, he had to have his own. Here is Jack's tag. This font is 101!Block letterz.  You can find a bunch of amazing fill fonts on Kay's blog Creative Someday here...

Here is another tag I did on the bright brushed gold.
And 2 more tags on super mirror gold (left) and gold anodized (right).
And another one as Jack keeps on asking for them!  He took them all to bed with him the first night hehe!  This font is No Parking.

Engraving blanks with the Chomas Creations engraving tip

With all the engraving going on I was asked by quite a few people if you could engrave on jewerly blanks and now the answer is in!  YES you can!  Of course some of these worked better then others, and I was sent a large variety by Rachel to try.  Thanks Rachel!  Keep in mind these look much better in person.  Taking a picture of something shiny is near impossible!
I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip in the Silhouette Cameo with a thickness of 33, a speed of 4 and double cut.  I also have a tutorial on how to line up the blanks in the Cameo here... tutorial
