Make-the-Cut's newest update & what is means for using your Chomas Creations mini gel pens!
Oh boy! You all know I love Make-the-Cut, and I love all the new updates that are free that come my way! But of all the updates I've gotten over the year, this is by far my fav! Wait till you see why!
Now, my Cricut friends that own MTC already, you will love this! You can update to MTC 3.3.2 right here and see all of the new updates (like linking to your Lettering Delights account!) and it will NOT, I repeat, will NOT get rid of your Cricut drivers! And for all the Silhouette fans out there, the Silhouette drivers are in the download that make it super easy to cut or draw to your Silhouette!
Now here is my fav part, hehe! Start by picking a font you want to use and type what you want it to say. Now right click on your typed out words, click on shape magic, advanced, and click on thin paths! (do this all while it is grouped together, do not ungroup and try this as it doesn't work right!)

I found this cute bunny on the internet and traced it like normal. Notice how on the before it is double lined, but by using thin paths, your bunny and text all go to single line!
You can get the free MTC bunny file here! I included both the before and after!
Now, I used the Cricut and the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Cricut to draw the before and after!
Of course I wanted to give the Silhouette a try with MTC as well! That little machine makes a lot of noise but really does a fantastic job with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette!
I also had a cool palm tree I had embossed awhile back, and I wanted to try that with thin paths. Here is the embossed palm tree with the Chomas Creations embossing kit BEFORE thin paths...
Which of course looks really cool for embossing, but I wanted to try and see the thin paths with the palm tree. Here is what it looks like in MTC...
You can download the file for the palm tree here!
Here is the palm tree drawn with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Cricut...
And here is the same file to draw with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette...
So just think, all your fonts with that single line you have always wanted to draw with...

Today the Getting Cricky design team and some special guests are coming to you for a special blog hop "thanking" Kristal for all she has done for us. We will each be featuring special "Thank You" card to be mailed to Kristal.
If you are interested in participating, you can add your card to the link below and mail them to the address here.We have some Blog Hop CANDY for one lucky WINNER!!!
Amy Chomas (hey that is me hehe!) has graciously donated a mini gel pen set and holder as our grand prize and some of the ladies have also added to the pot (surprise package).
So if you don't know already, Kristal is one amazing woman! Kristal, this one's for you! You deserve it girlie!
If you have come from Brenda Creativity is only a state of mind you are in the right place! If you just stopped by my blog to visit today and would like to attend the blog hop, click on Brenda's link and start there!
So this card is for Kristal (hey Kristal, don't look hehe!) I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip on clear cardstock, writing, or etching the words many thanks into the clear cardstock. It is so hard to get a good picture of these types of projects! I used Birthday Bash for the scallop card shape and the font. Click on the pics to see them better. The owl is from Give a Hoot. All the papers are Basic Grey's Green at Heart line.
This is the back of the card. With the clear cardstock I like to add a solid color that I can stamp on or write a sentiment on. This is the K Andrew stamp from the Positive Thoughts stamps. This is a great stamp set for when you want to send a card with good thoughts to a friend!
So as you may have heard I have donated the grand prize for the hop! A Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and your choice of 10 Chomas Creations mini gel pens!
How do you win you ask? Simple!
You must go to each blog and leave a comment (following would be nice also) to qualify for the grand prize.

Tooth fairy layout with Chomas Creations embossing kit for the Silhouette
Ah those special moments in life, the loose teeth, the wiggling to get them to come out, the thrill of losing your first tooth... My poor Ella never got that as her big people teeth grew behind her baby teeth and never gave the the push they needed to come out! In fact there were HUGE roots left on Ella's baby teeth! But the tooth fairy still made in appearance, even though she didn't lose them in the traditional way hehe!
To make the tooth and heart border, I used Silhouette Studio to trace some images I found online. You can download that file here... tooth border I then added my metal sheet color side down to the embossing mat, and embossed it with the Chomas Creations embossing kit for the Silhouette.

The tooth fairy is a download from the Silhouette store so I can not share this file. I did add the title to the image, then drew it with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette. I then colored it in with Copic markers, look no smearing! I added a bit of Stickles to parts of my image for extra fun!
The journaling oval on this page was done with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the Silhouette. I have that file to share here... file for oval journal
Here is the completed page!! The papers, ribbon and stickers (chosen by my Ella hehe!) are all Imaginesce.

More soldier cards with Chomas Creations embossing kit
I used the tutorial from my blog here... card tutorial There is also a link to a free download to use the Chomas Creations embossing tip to score your cards! Super easy!
I used the papers and inks from Quick Quotes on my cards as well. A really cool thing about the Quick Quotes inks was how they matched their paper lines! How easy to find the right colors! And this week Quick Quotes is announcing an awesome giveaway! $3000 in prizes in 30 days! You won't want to miss that! Stop by their blog at Quick Quotes blog for more information.
I also used Kristal Andrews Freedom Isn't Free stamp line to do these cards, which you can find here... Freedom Isn't Free
To make the red metal stripes I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit. I added the red metal sheets face down on the embossing mat, embossed my lines with the Cricut, then used a stylus to push every other stripe out more, and sanded the raised image.
I also stamped a sentiment with the Freedom Isn't Free stamps and the Quick Quotes ink on the insides of my cards as well.

Scoring a card with the Chomas Creations embossing tip
I was so excited to be asked to be the first guest designer for Kristal!!! She is one amazing woman! If you just came from her blog... Getting Cricky
This hop is all about supporting our fallen heroes. Rebecca from Crafting Misfit is doing a walk where she will hand deliver cards made to show support. What an amazing cause! You can find out more on her blog about it!
The cards that I made have already been delivered to a friend of mine who was putting together care packages for our soldiers. Thank you Leslie! But I'm going to make more to send out for a good cause!
Well now, for those of you that know me, you know how I like things that make my life easier, and for those getting to know me, now you know! hehe! So if I can cut and fold a card in just minutes, and have a bunch ready to go and grab when I need them, I'm all for it! You will be amazed at how easy this is to do! You can download the file for Design Studio to make these 2 cards here... 4x6 card share
I also have a video you can watch on scoring with the Chomas Creations embossing tip
Now to recap, this is using just the Cricut mat and a piece of cardstock, and the Chomas Creations embossing tip to score the card.
I added a big rectangle in Design Studio on the emboss layer, with some of the edges off of the paper (you don't need this part of the rectangle) to emboss with the Chomas Creations embossing tip.
Now for a give away!! Kristal is giving away a set of her stamps to one lucky winner! Leave a comment here for a chance at this awesome prize! Great stamps Kristal! And did you know that $1 from each of her stamps sets sold goes to a different charity?
Of course you don't have to become a follower, but if you have not yet, why not? hehe! One comment per person, I will pick a winner with random.org Monday morning!

Using a multi-cut of 2, emboss or score the paper with the Cricut.
Without removing the mat from the machine, remove the Chomas Creations embossing tip and add the blade. Swith over to the blade. Click the cut layer tab in Design Studio and cut out the card rectangles.
Now you can remove the mat from the machine, and take your cards off your mat, fold them in half and use a bone folder to smooth the edge. SUPER EASY! I did all 6 of these cards in less them 10 minutes and chatted to Kristal on facebook while doing it hehe! How is that for multi-tasking?
I was so excited that Kristal sent me her Freedom Isn't Free stamps to try, you can find them here... Freedom Isn't Free
Let me tell you how handy these stamps came in! I had a friend whose husband is stationed over in Italy that is putting together care packages for our soldiers! I made her 10 cards to use, and these stamps worked great for that project!
Not only did I use the Chomas Creations embossing tip to score the cards, but I also used it for the stars embossed on the Ten Seconds Studio metal sheet. I added the metal sheet colored side down on the embossing mat, embossed the design, then sanded the raised image to make the stars POP! The paper I used on these is from Quick Quotes. I stamped a different sentiment on each card with the Freedom Isn't Free stamps!

Too school for cool with Chomas Creations embossing kit
I have this tradition with my oldest son, getting him to smile for photos is near impossible, but having him do silly poses such as this makes it a bit easier! So we go to this same red brick wall every year, and he repeats this same pose! I think this is the 4th year now hehe!
I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit on Ten Seconds Studio metal sheets to make the circle pattern, which is from Graphically Speaking. I put the color side down on my embossing mat and I then sanded the raised surface to make the silver beneath pop through!

I have a bunch of these journaling circles sitting around that I've done with the Chomas Creations mini gel pens, I grab one whenever I want to hand write (super quick) my journaling...
I used Boys Will Be Boys to create this title (from one of the recent Pink songs, my son thinks it is too funny, it maybe his favorite part of the song!), so no it isn't backwards hehe! The papers are all part of the Basic Grey Oliver line.

2 more cards for soldiers...
Here are 2 more of the cards I did for soldiers! I'm going to write an inspirational message on the inside for a care package a friend of mine is sending out.
For these I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder for the background. I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit to make the guitars (these guitars are from Hannah Montana), then cut them out with scissors (these metal sheets are soooo easy to cut with scissors!). I welded the title in Design Studio using Hannah Montana then cut it out on silver vinyl.
