Engraving acrylic with the Chomas Creations Scan N Cut engraving tip

Here's a project I did using the new Scan N Cut engraver by Chomas Creations.  The regular engraving tip available now is awesome for filling in lines like I'm showing on my bulldog engraving.
When you have details like this you have to send the project as a draw file, not a cut file.  You will lose all the little lines that make up all the details.  I also set the machine to draw and used a pressure of 9 and speed of 5.  You can find the new Chomas Creations engraving tip here...  engraving tip
Always remember to either use double sided adhesive or painters tape to secure your piece.
I got these acrylic pieces and the LED light bases from Craft Chameleon.
Here is the finished project!

New Brother Scan N Cut engraving tip

By request I've started carrying the original engraving tip for the Brother Scan N Cut machines.  It will work in the entire line of Scan N Cut machines.
I like the engraver better on acrylic when you are filling in areas of a design, as seen in the photo.
I've had requests to engrave on leather which you would need this original engraving tip to do.
So yes this is different then the precision tip.  It isn't as sharp and has other uses.  It will engrave as well, I just find the precision tip works better for finer details and the engraving tip works better to fill in designs. They both have a use :)  The Chomas Creations engraving tip for the Scan N Cut is available here now... new engraving tip
Here is a comparison of the 2 tips.

As you can see the precision tip on the right comes to a much finer, sharper point and the engraver on the left is still sharp but less of a point.  I do offer these for other die cut machines such as the Cricut and Silhouette and wanted to offer them to my Scan N Cut users as well.
Here is a design I filled in today with the new Scan N Cut engraving tip.  I've got it on an LED light base here with the red light.

Chomas Creations precision tip in the Brother Scan N Cut

Fun with the Chomas Creations precision tip in the Brother Scan N Cut machine. I always say if it fits under the rollers in the machine I'm going to give it a try! I found these key chains on etsy. I do know how to spell I swear, this is the name of my boat. :) I did attach the key chains to the mat with double sided adhesive so they wouldn't slip around while engraving. I also sent them through the machine a few times to get this look.
Here's a video with the Chomas Creations precision tip in action!

Bottle openers with Chomas Creations precision tip

I found a bottle opener on etsy that was under 3 mm so I gave it a go for engraving in my Cameo 4 with the Chomas Creations precision tip. It was anodized aluminum and did take multiple passes to get through. I used a pressure of 33 and speed of 3. I think it turned out cute and plan on trying on more!
I did use double sided adhesive to secure it to the mat. I just added a video to the Chomas Creations YouTube channel to help see how I did it.

Acrylic coasters with the Chomas Creations precision tip for the Brother Scan N Cut

I thought these mandala designs would make cool coasters! I engraved on the acrylic coasters from Craft Chameleon with the Chomas Creations precision tip. The feet come with them as well.
I set the design to draw in the software, added the coaster to my mat (yes it will work in all machines, you just have to make sure to get the right thickness of acrylic for your machine), then set the design to draw, speed of 5 pressure of 9. I did do it on the opposite side of the acrylic so if you are flipping text over make sure to flip it in the software.
The Chomas Creations precision tip for the Brother Scan N Cut is in my store here... precision tip

More info on the Brother Scan N Cut precision tip

Brother Scan N Cut Chomas Creations precision tip answers! Have questions ask here and I will edit this post to answer the rest for a go to for people trying it out! I'm still learning the machine a bit so be patient and if you know the answer please help out  My kids are still on Christmas break here lol!
Which machines will it work in? Works in the entire line of Scan N Cut machines
What can I engrave on? Anything that fits under the rollers. You have 2 mm clearance on the CM and 3 mm clearance on the DX. I say if it fits I'm going for it.
Acrylic, aluminum, jewelry blanks, give it a go!
What settings do you use? I've been copying and pasting my design on top of each other in the software as the way to multi cut. I use a slower speed around 4 and a pressure around 8. Make sure you select draw in the software and draw on the machine. Also when it asks for the correct tool in the machine go ahead and hit ok!
They are in stock now and shipping! Can't wait to see what everyone does with them

Using the Chomas Creations precision tip in the Brother Scan N Cut to engrave on acrylic! I got this piece and the light at Craft Chameleon. I attached the acrylic piece with double sided adhesive to keep it in place.
I did send the etching design over using the draw function in the Brothers software. I did a multi cut of 3 by cutting and pasting my design on top of each other. If anyone can tell me an easier way please do  I set the speed to 4 and pressure to 8 and again sent it on the machine as a draw.

Chomas Creations precision tip in the Brother Scan N Cut

Playing around again on acrylic with the Chomas Creations precision tip in the Scan N cut to etch this design.  My daughter answered this question correctly when she was learning to spell, that's for sure!
I added the acrylic coaster from Craft Chameleon to the Scan N Cut mat and sent it through the machine.  The text is Sketch Serif a chalkboard font.  I set the sofware to draw as well as the machine and put the pressure to 3.  By the way taking a pic of acrylic is not an easy task!
