Mirror frame with Chomas Creations engraving tip

Here is another one of the frames I got done with the Chomas Creations engraving tip!  I used the Darice plastic mirror sheets to engrave with the Chomas Creations engraving tip.  I traced this design of the Eiffel tower and multi-cut of 3.  I like using a slow speed for these intricate designs.
The frame was a blank wood frame I got from Michaels for $1.  I painted the sides, added patterned paper with Mod Podge and used screw eyes to hang the ribbon.

My funny Valentines with Chomas Creations engraving tip

So I am finally getting around to making a scrapbook layout of the Valentine's day cards my kids made last year, hehe!  You can actually get the directions for these Valentines my kids made using the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder here.... Valentine's day cards
I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip for the Cameo on Core'dinations cardstock to make the heart border & lines around the title.

After I had etched the title, it didn't pop as I would have liked, so I decided to go a step further. The best part about Core'dinations cardstock is that one side is colored, and one is black.  So I cut a big piece that was hiding behind my 8x10 photo to use for cutting out the title.  Now you can really see it!

I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder for the Cameo to hold a Souffle gel pen to draw the Valentine's sentiments.  Souffle pens do take a bit to dry, so I made sure that the rollers on the Cameo would not run them over to smear them.  You can also push the rollers aside if you need to.  The font I used was Altera.
And here is the finished page, along with my collage photo.  I love doing these to get a lot of pictures on a page!

Chomas Creations engraving tip on aluminum tags!

Great news! I've been asked quite a few times where to find engravable metal to use with the Chomas Creations engraving tip, and here it is! Karen Hamski told me all about  Ohax Industries, Inc.and they have tons of colors and sizes of these metal tags that are made out of aluminum so they are nice and light weight! If you are interested in a 21 piece sample pack for $16.50  check it out here... sample pack.  And the owner says he will work with us crafters if we have special sizes we would like. I asked him about smaller sizes for dog tags and he is getting on it! This was my first try at a tag with these aluminum tags, a tag to go on my son's basketball bag. I did delete my phone number on this, there are no marks on the tag as they all come with a protective cover.  The font I used on this tag is called Campbell.
So who wants to know how I got the engraving on that tag to line up? Well have I got a tutorial for you!
First create your rectangle, circle, square or another easy shape to recreate in Studio.  In a few days I will have a tutorial for what to do when you really want to engrave on an object that is an odd shape.
The tag I am using is 2x3 inches.  Put that on your virtual mat.  **Notice how I am not putting the tag too close to where the rollers are going to be, I have it moved over 2 inches.  You may even need to center your tag to get the best engraving possible.  This just worked for me.  If it ends up close to or under the rollers, it will not work.

I use glue dots on the back of my tag to hold it in place on my mat.  **You can try a test cut or draw  the rectangle shape before you add your tag to the mat if you are nervous (this is optional, you can just add the tag to your mat lined up with your virtual mat, but this may save some frustration in the end, and it is pretty quick!)

Now I want to turn off the cut lines for when I am engraving. To do this first click on the image of the scissors (1), then click on your image, in this case the tag & small circle (2), and then click on no cut (3).  You can see the design I am going to be engraving on this image.

You can add any text or designs you would like to the Silhouette Studio file.
Now add the Chomas Creations engraving tip to the Cameo.  I used a thickness of 33, a speed of 4, and checked double cut and let the machine do its work!
And here is the tag completed.  This is the silver super mirror.

Now when my youngest son saw this tag, he had to have his own. Here is Jack's tag. This font is 101!Block letterz.  You can find a bunch of amazing fill fonts on Kay's blog Creative Someday here...

Fonts 2

Here is another tag I did on the bright brushed gold.
And 2 more tags on super mirror gold (left) and gold anodized (right).
And another one as Jack keeps on asking for them!  He took them all to bed with him the first night hehe!  This font is No Parking.

No tricks only treats layout with Chomas Creations engraving tip

Figured I had to get one more layout done for Halloween this year before I move on to Thanksgiving and Christmas pages!  Happy Halloween everyone!  May your holiday only be filled with treats hehe!!

I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip in the Silhouette Cameo to etch the spider web design in the Core'dinations cardstock.

The title was a download called no tricks only treats from the Studio store.

I did my journaling on a thought bubble I made using the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder.  You can get the free Studio share here... thought bubble
Here is the finished layout of all my trick-or-treaters ready to get some treats!!

Disney/Pixar blog hop day 2!

Welcome to the Disney/Pixar blog hop!  If you are just stopping by today and want to do the whole hop, start at Shawn's blog Crafty Chics.  If you are interested this is day 2 of the blog hop, so you can also check out day 1!
If you are coming from Shawn's blog Crafty Chics, you are in the right place!

I've been using the Chomas Creations engraving tip in the Cameo to do these tags, but I also have an engraving tip that fits in the entire Cricut line!  You can see that here...  engraving tip for Cricut
Some of my nieces and nephews are heading to Disney for vacation and I thought it would be fun to make them their own tags to put on their bags, and of course I had to add Mickey to them!  I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip in the Cameo on aluminum tags to engrave these Mickey designs and their names.  I got the aluminum tags here... Ohax Industries, Inc.  The Mickey designs are some I found online and traced in Silhouette Studio.  The fonts are part of Lettering Delights thin fonts.  Keep in in mind I smeared out the last name and phone number, so the color may be a bit off in those areas.  Click on the picture to see even better!  You can get more details on engraving with the Silhouette Cameo here... engraving
I read on Shawn's blog that we have been doing this blog hop for over 2 years now!  I thought it would be neat to go back and show some of the things I have done on this blog hop, a little revisit!
Here is a card I embossed with the Chomas Creations embossing kit and the Cricut!
And another card made with the Chomas Creations embossing kit in the Cricut

Here is a card using the Chomas Creations engraving tip on clear cardstock to etch the Mickey ears!  This to was with the Cricut!
Again with the Cricut, this time using the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder to draw Buzz & Woody and then color them in with Copic markers!  The background papers were also drawn with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder!
And another Toy Story layout, this time using the Cameo with the Chomas Creations adjustable marker to draw Buzz and Woody.
And here is another Cameo layout using the Chomas Creations engraving tip to etch the Mickey ear background onto Core'dinations cardstock & the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a pen to do the journaling!

Halloween layout with Chomas Creations engraving tip

I just love when others give me ideas to try out, and this one was a lot of fun!  Of course next time I would probably choose a simpler pattern as this weeding took quite a long time!
This is the Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock.  The front side is black, the back side is orange, and they have a bunch of different colors with the black.  When you etch into the black with the Chomas Creations engraving tip, the orange shows through.  I used the pressure at 33, the speed at 4, and a double cut.  Now you have seen me do that before, but someone gave me the idea to use a paper piercing tool to weed out the pieces of black to see the orange behind!  Like I said this was a lot of work, and I would probably choose a simpler pattern next time, but I do love how it came out!  I did get some longer pieces to come out of the design though.

The title is from the Studio software.  I did cut it 3 times and layered it, then added some Stickles for bling!

The journaling is on one of my thought bubbles, made using the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder and a gel pen.  You can get that download and more details here...  thought bubbles

And here is my little girl all dressed up! I actually made the rhinestone shirt with a Studio download and Silhouette rhinestones!  I so love all that I can do with the Cameo!  And yes my sweet little doggie is dressed up as a little devil!  She may look all sweet on the outside, but she is a bit of a stinker!

ABC layout using the Chomas Creations engraving tip

Oooh the things you can do with the Chomas Creations engraving tip and Core'dinations cardstock!  I'm having a blast with the new kraft-core Core'dinations (as some of you that follow my blog may know!), so this is right up my alley!
The kraft-core comes in a 24 pack, and the core is the kraft, so when you engrave with the Chomas Creations engraving tip for the Cricut that is what shows through!  Keep reading for your chance to win some, and a Chomas Creations engraving tip, woohooo!
I used the pressure on 5 and double cut, then used a brillo pad to gently sand the surface.
I used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder with black metallic mini gel pen to draw the journaling lines.  You can get more info and the download here... journaling circles

I cut some letters the same size as the engraved ones and added them to the page, along with some ribbon.  Pretty simple page, but doesn't look it!

7 year anniversary with Chomas Creations engraving tip

Kristen from Zoey & the furballs shared this AWESOME frame she made for her 7th anniversary with me, and I thought it was soooo cool I wanted you all to see it!  She used the Chomas Creations engraving tip on Core'dinations cardstock to engrave, or etch, the 7's on the background paper.  If you have been around my blog long you know how much I love engraving on the Core'dinations cardstock and the effect it gives!
You can get lots more details on Kristen's blog... Zoey & the furballs

Thanks so much for sharing Kristen!!!

Kalahari layout with Chomas Creations engraving tip

Last year for my mom's 60th birthday all of her kids, spouses and their kids took her to the Kalahari in Ohio to celebrate!  We had an AMAZING time!  I highly recommend it there, tons of fun things to do!
I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip with MTC and Core'dinations cardstock to make the title and leaves on this page.  You use the engraving tip with a regular Cricut mat, I like to use a multi cut of 2, and then give my designs a light sanding.
I also used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder with MTC to add journaling lines right on my page!  I actually did it when the pictures and ribbon and paper were already on my page as a last minute thing!  It worked awesome, and I'll be trying it again!  And look how much easier it is to keep everything in line!  Lots of room for journaling!
I made this a 2 page layout as I had a ton of pictures I needed to add!

Don't forget to use the coupon code pink10 to save 10% off your entire order in the Chomas Creations store!  Offer ends 10-16!
