Christmas Card with Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder

I just love Kelly's blog Finding Time to Create!  She always has such neat projects putting the Silhouette Cameo to use.  This card is no exception as she has done it again!
Using the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder with a fine tip marker, look how small she wrote the sentiment on this card!  Here are more details on how the rest of Kelly's card was made... Christmas card
Thanks so much Kelly for letting me share this post!!  I just love this card, so clean and simple, yet stunning!

Snowflake birthday card with Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder

On 12-12-12 my niece turned 10!  This is the card I made for her!  I love turquoise and red as wintery colors.  I used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder with a white Signo Uniball gel pen to draw the snowflakes on the turquoise.  The happy birthday sentiment was cut with the Silhouette.  I added some Viva Decor Pearl Pen to the center of the snowflakes.

Spread Cheer card with Chomas Creations engraving tip

I just loved the Spread Cheer sentiment from the Silhouette Studio downloads that I wanted to make a card with it to!  Our family is known for it's loud singing hehe!
Here is the Chomas Creations engraving tip in the Silhouette Cameo.  It is one piece and goes right into the machine.  All you do is tighten the blue screw!
I wanted to etch onto Core'dinations kraft core cardstock with the Chomas Creations engraving tip so I used my speed at 6, my thickness at 33, and I used the double cut option.  After I did the engraving I lightly sanded the image to clean it up (when I say lightly I mean really lightly, just brush a sanding block over the image gently, of course you can add more pressure if you want a very distressed look!).  Here is the finished card!
Don't forget to use the coupon code dec10 at checkout to save 10% off your purchase of $25 or more in the Chomas Creations store!

Engraved mirror with Chomas Creations engraving tip

When I saw this quote in the Silhouette Studio store I couldn't pass it up!  In our family because we can't sing well, we always sing loud hehe!
I've done some Chomas Creations engraving tip on the plastic mirrors before, but in case you missed it, here we go again!
I've found these plastic mirrors at JoAnns by Darice.

I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip in the Silhouette Cameo with a thickness of 33, a speed of 6 and double cut to get this etched look.  These mirrors are easy to cut with a guillotine trimmer, so I cut it to 5x7 and added it to a frame.  Of course it is hard to get a good picture of a mirror (hard?  did I say hard?  it is near impossible!), but this turned out so neat!
Don't forget to use the coupon code dec10 at checkout in the Chomas Creations store to save 10% off your purchase of $25 or more!  Good till the end of December.

Merry Christmas layout with Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder

Tis the season for Christmas scrapbook pages, cards, and projects!  I found these pictures from 5 years ago (eeek I missed them!) and my kids are so little!  I did keep it super simple as there were  a lot of pictures I wanted to add and the focus is supposed to be on them!
I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with an embossing mat and stylus to emboss the circle design into metal sheets, and then I added some trees from the Silhouette Studio store to the designs.
Then I added journaling lines right to my background paper, just where I needed them!  I used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder with a gel pen for this as well!
The title is a Silhouette Studio store, this is the left side of this double page layout.
And this is the right side of my layout!
Don't forget to use the coupon code FALL10 at checkout in the Chomas Creations store before the end of November to save 10% off your purchase of $25 or more!

Small Business Saturday

Let me just say how very excited I am about this special day, Small Business Saturday!  Me and my husband believe in supporting the local small business whenever we can.  Some of you might know that Chomas Creations is a small business.  We run the business out of our home.  Every order is packed and checked by me, Amy Chomas.  I also do most of my own designing, I do all of the customer service, and did I mention I'm also a mom to 4 kids during all of this?
So onto the supporting small business.  All of our holders are manufactured right here in Michigan in my father in laws shop, also a small business.
All of our embossing mats are bought from another small business right here in the USA, and they are made in the USA as well.
All of our embossing mats are manufactured in the USA at another small business.

I want to thank each and every one of you that has supported this small business.  I appreciate you all each and every day.  This business has let me stay home with my kids and that means a lot to me.

I do have 2 specials going on this weekend to show my thanks to you!
This is my Turkey Day/Black Friday/Small Business Saturday/Cyber Monday sale all rolled into one!  Use the coupon code thanks20 at checkout to save 20% off your purchase of more then $49 in the Chomas Creations store!  Does not apply to previous purchases and ends midnight eastern time 11-26-12.

Life is so good with Chomas Creations adjustable holders

My kids are so lucky to have the best Great Grampa ever! He is an amazing man, he has the kindest heart, is so easy going and always has a listening ear! This is my youngest son giving some love to his Great Grampa!
One of my favorite looks right now is that of white gel pen on kraft cardstock.  And my fav gel pen to do this with is the Signo Uniball white gel pen (I love this pen so much I started carrying it in my store!)  This gel pen is bigger then most in diameter so you have to use it with the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder in the Cameo.  Here is the honey comb pattern I got as a download in the Studio Store.
I also used the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder in the Cameo to draw the journaling lines in my thought bubble.  You can download the share for that and see the tutorial here... thought bubble
This was actually a simple page!  I had these chipboard hearts and ribbon and added them.  The title was another Studio download.

Don't forget to use the coupon code FALL10 until the end of November to save 10% off your purchase of $35 or more in the Chomas Creations store.

10 layout with Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder

Wheeewh!  Sorry for the neglected blog!  We had a flood in our house and ended up having to redo the floors in my office/scraproom.  What a mess!  Anyways, enough of the excuses, I got a scrap page done!!!
Have you been in the Silhouette Studio store lately?  There are TONS of new sketches available, and they are so cute!  And of course they work great with the Chomas Creations adjustable holders hehe!  I'm addicted to sketching, I admit!
These clouds were a Studio download.  I used the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder with a Zig Ball .5mm pen.  Super thin lines on those pens!  The cloud sketches also come with the shadow so you can cut them after you draw them.
I used a normal font and used the sketch feature in the Designers Edition of Studio to make the 10.  Then I cut the shadow.  Again I drew this with the Zig pens in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder.
The journaling thought bubble was also drawn with a Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder and is available for download on my blog here...  thought bubbles
Here is the page all put together with my kids and all their cousins!  They are so lucky to have someone to play with every time we get together!
Woohoo it is good to be back!  I don't think I got too rusty on my leave hehe!

Sketching a photo with your die cutter & Chomas Creations adjustable holders

Kay at Clever Someday never fails to amaze me.  She has a tutorial on her blog on how you can take a photo and turn it into a sketch that you can draw with your die cut machine (she used the Cameo) and the Chomas Creations adjustable holders!  Here is a photo of the sketches she drew!  Be sure and stop by Kay's blog Clever Someday and tell her what you think!  She is always coming up with something spectacular over there, and you can browse around her blog and see what I mean!

And I want to apologize for slacking on my blog!  We had a basement flood over here a couple of months ago and the carpet in my office/scrapbook room was ruined!  My husband gave me a beautiful new bamboo floor in here, and I finally have it back together, so I'm hoping for some creating time this week!

Halloween layout with Chomas Creations engraving tip

I just love when others give me ideas to try out, and this one was a lot of fun!  Of course next time I would probably choose a simpler pattern as this weeding took quite a long time!
This is the Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock.  The front side is black, the back side is orange, and they have a bunch of different colors with the black.  When you etch into the black with the Chomas Creations engraving tip, the orange shows through.  I used the pressure at 33, the speed at 4, and a double cut.  Now you have seen me do that before, but someone gave me the idea to use a paper piercing tool to weed out the pieces of black to see the orange behind!  Like I said this was a lot of work, and I would probably choose a simpler pattern next time, but I do love how it came out!  I did get some longer pieces to come out of the design though.

The title is from the Studio software.  I did cut it 3 times and layered it, then added some Stickles for bling!

The journaling is on one of my thought bubbles, made using the Chomas Creations adjustable pen holder and a gel pen.  You can get that download and more details here...  thought bubbles

And here is my little girl all dressed up! I actually made the rhinestone shirt with a Studio download and Silhouette rhinestones!  I so love all that I can do with the Cameo!  And yes my sweet little doggie is dressed up as a little devil!  She may look all sweet on the outside, but she is a bit of a stinker!

Metal clay & the Chomas Creations engraving tip

This is a very exciting post for me!  I got a few messages on facebook from the group MCSILies about women using the Chomas Creations engraving tip in the Cameo with metal clay to make jewerly.  I was just amazed at what is being done!  This post is by Wanaree from A Work in Progress.  Read to the end to find out how you can learn more about this process, and be prepared to be amazed!

Metal clay is a malleable form of metal that can be formed much like ceramic clay, but once it's fired it's completely 100%, solid metal, with all the qualities that come with that metal. Before it's fired, it's soft enough to sculpt, impress textures into, and wonderful to engrave. The texture plates, or hard sided stamps was created from an original design drafted on the Silhouette designer software, then cut and engraved using the Chomas Creations engraving tip.
Those stamps were pressed into two flat slabs of the Sterling clay and allowed to air dry until it reached a leather hard state. The clay was run thought the Silhouette, and the Tibetan "OM" symbol was engraved into the ring's front panel, and "om mani padme hum" engraved into the ring back. The silver clay was then fired to 1500F and cooled. Now it's completely solid sterling silver! The ring was hammered into shape and then soldered together, with the engravings facing in.
