Ooooh you are going to love this!!!!

I know, I know, I'm a big enabler, blah blah blah, hehe!  But when I get excited about something, I so can't help myself!  Now that is how I'm feeling right now about the Chomas Creations engraving tip (available for pre-order on the right hand side of my blog) and the Grafix 12x12 clear plastic sheets (.020 thickness, about as thick as chipboard).  These are thick like acrylic sheets and don't bend.  So I bought them a long time ago at Custom Crops here... clear plastic sheets to use with the mini Sharpie holder but never got around to it (hey 4 kids kinda suck time right out of you hehe).  And when me and the good ole' hubby decided on doing the engraving tips, I knew I had to give this material a try with it!  And can I just say it looked WAY more awesome then I ever thought possible????  Here is a close up of the lines I did, using my graph file I have here... graph file download using the Cricut and George.

By keeping the back cover (there is a thin sheet of blue protective cover on the front and back of the clear sheets), I added it to my Cricut mat.  I then replaced the blade holder with the Chomas Creations engraving tip, and using the max pressure and multi-cut of 2, I engraved the lines.  Then I used Boys Will Be Boys to do the title, and used the Hannah Montana star for all of the stars on the page.  I used pop dots to pop them on up!  Here is the page all done...

Again this stuff is hard to photograph, but I had big plans for it!  Being it is so strong, I added it to a frame on my wall, with nothing behind it!  Look how AWESOME this looks!  Don't mind me and all of my !!! but that is how I type when I get this excited lol!  So you will probably see them a lot on this blog, that is fair warning!

Now to do 3 more for my wall of pictures, so the other kids don't get jealous hehe!!

Another Chomas Creations engraving tip on clear cardstock card, with a twist!

I got another one of the Chomas Creations engraving tip on clear cardstock cards done, but this time I added a twist!  I took the red StayzOn ink and rubbed in on the engraved part of my card, to make that part really stand out!  What is the one thing I've learned from using the engraving tip on clear cardstock?  That it looks SOOO much better in person and is very hard to photograph hehe!

But here is the card all done!  I used Make-the-Cut to design the title.
The font I used is called La La Palooza and you can find it on Dana's blog here... Dana's Blog  The reindeer in the middle is part of
Lettering Delights Doodlebat set Peppermint Holiday.  I used the Chomas Creations engraving tip on clear cardstock with a pressure of max.
The Chomas Creations engraving tip is available for pre-order on the right hand side of my blog

Kickin Off Christmas Blog Hop Day #2!!!

If you are back for day #2 of the Kickin Off Christmas blog hop, you are going to be one happy camper!!!  But sorry, you will have to read this post first and I'll post why at the very end, or somewhere in the middle, just somewhere on this post hehe!  And don't forget to read the post below this one from Day #1 of the blog hop if you haven't already for a chance to win the Chomas Creations micro Sharpie holder and a black micro Sharpie!
A lot of the blogs from the Kickin Off Christmas blog hop have new posts for day #2, so keep on hoppin!
Don't forget to post on each blog for more chances to win a Custom Crops $25 gift voucher to their store!
Once again let's start with some inspiration!
Every year I have a tradition of getting a photo in front of the tree with all 4 of my kids!  And while it may not be perfect, and it is hard to get everyone to cooperate, and can get a bit stressful, it is worth it to see them chance through the years!
I started this page by designing the border in Design Studio with Winter Frolic and embossing that design on Ten Second Studio's metal sheets (colored side down) with the Chomas Creations embossing kit.  I then flipped the border over and sanded the debossed (raised) side of the image with a burnishing block.  This takes the color off the raised surface and leaves just the silver from underneath so it really POPS!

Next I cut out the title from Design Studio and layered that in a circle and added some Stickles to some of the letters.

The trees are designed with George in Design Studio to match the trees in my border, then I added Stickles to those as well.

Here is the completed page with me and my little angels!

I also wanted to add a card with the all new, available for pre-order Chomas Creations ENGRAVING tip!  I've had a lot of questions on what the difference is between the engraving and embossing tip, so I figured I would answer that here!  You can also find more information on the engraving tip here... Chomas Creations engraving tip
The EMBOSSING tip is an aluminum tip that works with an embossing mat on paper, vellum, and metal sheets to emboss an image.  The tip is rounded to give the embossed look.
The ENGRAVING tip is an aluminum holder with a carbide tip.  The carbide is an extremely hard metal, and it is ground to a sharp tip so that you can engrave, or etch on different surfaces such as hard or soft metal, clear cardstock, acrylic, and I've even engraved on Core'dinations cardstock.
Now here is the card I did!  I thought wouldn't it be cool to engrave a snow scene onto the front of a clear cardstock card, but I couldn't find a snow scene I liked to work with.  So I made my own in Make-the-Cut!  I did have some tree doodlebats, but still no hill.  So out came my Wacom tablet, and I drew my own hill and added the little trees to it!   Then I put the engraving tip in the Cricut, and set the pressure to max, and using multi-cut 2, I engraved (etched) the winter scene.
The title is from Winter Frolic, and the papers are all Echo Park.

You should see these etched cards in person!!!
Now if you have read this far, you may just remember that I said I was going to do a give away somewhere on the blog, and here it is!!  If you came back for day #2 of the hop, leave a comment on what you think of the new engraving tip, and if you could think of another surface you would like to see it engrave on!
One lucky person will be picked to win a Chomas Creations embossing kit!  This includes the mat and embossing tip!  And if you want to order before you know if you have won to be able to get the awesome sale, go ahead, and if you are chosen I will refund the cost of the embossing kit!
Remember to leave contact info for me, and only one entry per person!  I will use a random number generator to pick a winner!
Don't forget today is the last day of the HUGE pre-Black Friday sale, pricing is as follow and end tonight at midnight!  And all prices INCLUDE shipping!

Kickin Off Christmas blog hop! Day 1

DAY 1!!!

Welcome to the Kickin Off Christmas blog hop!  There are 14 blogs involved in the hop and they all have a lot in store for you to get you into the Christmas spirit!  I'm co-hosting the blog hop with Samantha of Scrapmaster's Paradise! I'm the start of the hop...  http://amychomas.blogspot.com/ and Samantha is the caboose http://thescrapmaster.blogspot.com/ and make sure you don't miss all the blogs in between, which are listed at the bottom of this post!  Also, Custom Crops donated a $25 gift card to their online store, so for each blog you post on, you get another chance to win!  I'm going to use a random number generator to pick 1 lucky winner!

You may notice a theme with this hop, we are showcasing the Chomas Creations product line and Samantha's SP & Company stamp line!  And for the special pre-Black Friday occasion, Samantha and I are both having big sales!  But I'll get to that later!

I'm going to start with the inspiration first!  My mom thought it would be fun to bake up 144 cookies for the kids to frost and decorate, and it was, but what a mess hehe!  The kids enjoyed all htat sugar though, and loved every minute of it!

I started with the title on this one, using the Winter Frolic Cricut cartridge, I drew the Sweet Memories with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and black metallic mini gel pen, and then colored it in with the Copic markers.

Next I thought it would be fun to make a file for the gingerbread man stamps from Samantha at  SP & Company so that I could cut the gingerbread man, then stamp the design inside them!  These stamps are super cute! You get to pick your own gingerbread man face, or even make it a gingerbread WOMAN!  hehe!  After making a bunch, and having them constantly stolen from the kiddies, I finally got enough for my page!  I colored them in with the Copic markers, and added white gel pen to make the dots pop.  You can get the gingerbread man file for Make-the-Cut here, it is sized just right for stamping inside of...  gingerbread man file
I added a line of gingerbread men on top of the silver vinyl from Silhouette to look like cookie sheets, and added ribbon to trim them off.

Now if you have been on my blog before, you have probably seen me talking about the journaling circles I use, and yes I am out of control with them!  But they come in so handy!!!  I use the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and mini gel pens.
I have a tutorial here on how I do the journaling circles... journaling circle tutorial and the download for using the journaling circles in the Cricut with George is here... journaling circle download

Here is the rest of the double sided layout all put together with Imaginesce papers, ribbon and snowflakes!

Before I get to my give away, did you hear the news??? I've added to the Chomas Creations product line! How about an engraving tip for the Cricut? And it doesn't just work on metal, but also on clear cardstock, acrylic and even Core'dinations cardstock! You can get more info here...

I have a BIG announcement!!! The Chomas Creations engraving tip is here!

The Chomas Creations engraving tip is ready for pre-order!!!!  A pre-order special of just $25 and if you pre-order now, shipping is on the house (outside of US, add $1) & they should be shipping before Christmas.  Just one piece made to easily go into your Cricut, Expression or Create machines instead of the blade holder. And you use it with your existing Cricut mats!  Imagine all of the things you could do with the Chomas Creations engraving tip! This is just the tip of the iceberg! The Chomas Creations engraving tip is made of a super durable carbide which is made to last!   And of course, it is Made in the USA!

And this engraving tip isn't just for metal, look at what I've been playing with!
Here is the Chomas Creations engraving tip on clear cardstock!

Here is the Chomas Creations engraving tip on Core'dinations cardstock!

Here is the Chomas Creations engraving tip on harder metal!

Here is the Chomas Creations engraving tip on softer, colored metal!

Here is a clear cardstock card I made with the engraving tip to engrave all of the little stars on the front of the clear cardstock using the Nify Fifties Cricut cartridge.
I also used the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and the black metallic mini gel pen to draw the flamingo that I colored in with Copic markers as well.

The inside of the card is also drawn with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder & the black metallic mini gel pen!

Reindeer crossing card with Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and Copics!

I may just have mentioned before that you can use the Copic markers with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and gel pens?  hehe!  Sometimes I feel the need to color things in, and the Copics satisfy that craving for me!  I just love the way they blend together!  So today I played around in Cricut Design Studio to make this reindeer file with Winter Frolic and it is available for download free here... Design Studio reindeer file
I then drew the design with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder and the black metallic mini gel pen (from the assorted set), and colored it in with the Copics. And of course nothing is complete without a googly eye!  hehe
I cut the scallopped circle out of Echo Park's Christmas line and added it to another piece of patterned paper to complete the card!

Another pattern with the Chomas Creations embossing kit and MTC

Let me start by saying I loooove this pic of my boy, who is 4 1/2 now, but I still like going back and doing some of those baby pics that I missed!  Don't even think I'm close to having all of my fav pics in an album!  I had a hard time with this photo though because there don't seem to be a lot of patterned papers in navy that I like.  So  now look!  I made my own!  And I like the way it turned out!
To get the look I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit on the navy blue Ten Second Studio's metal sheet (face down) with Make-the-Cut.  I then sanded the raised surface.
I have the herringbone pattern available for download with Make-the-Cut here... herringbone pattern
The journaling circle is one of my journaling circles that I made ahead of time with the Chomas Creations mini gel pen holder, you can get the directions for that here... journaling circle tutorial  The file for these journaling circles is also available for download on that link.

Because I was using such a big photo, I did cut the piece of metal out from behind the photo to use on another project.
I also designed the title in MTC and covered it with Glossy Accents to make it shiney!  Here it the title and the finished page!

Don't forget only 6 more days till the Kickin Off Christmas blog hop!

Fun textures with the Chomas Creations embossing kit!

Again, sometimes I think... I sit and think scrappin, try to think of things to try next, and what I wanted to try was some fun textures! So here is a texture for today, LEOPARD PRINT!!! wooohooo! How fun is that? You can download the file for Make-the-Cut here... leopard print To get the look, I used the Chomas Creations embossing kit on the hot pink Ten Second Studio's metal sheets. I put the metal face down, did the embossing, sanded off the debossed (pink) side of the metal, then ran black StayzOn ink over the raised image. How fun is that?

For the title and accents I used the Rock Princess cartridge.  I cut everything 2-3 times to get a feeling of dimension, and used the Chomas Creations silver mini gel pen on the top layer of the title and the black mini gel pen on the top layer of the strawberries so I knew where to add my black Viva Decor paint to add dimension.
I was going for a bad girl look for the bottom of the page, so that is the metal, but for the top I wanted something soft!  So I used Glimmer Mist to spray some white flocked vinyl, and let that dry.  I then used the scallop punch to add along the bottom edge.

This nice close up also shows the silver mini gel pen as well!  I love how sharp it looks on the black cardstock!
I also used the mini gel pen to make the journaling circle, which I have a lot of them setting around!  So I can just grab one as I need it...

I also added pop dots behind the skull and strawberries to make them pop! Wheeewh! Lots of details here! Here is the finished page, along with my silly girl who loves when I get the camera out hehe!

Christmas day with the Chomas Creations embossing kit

Sometimes my brain gets to thinking, and I thought, what if after I embossed an image with the Chomas Creations embossing kit in the Cricut on Ten Second Studio's metal and sanded it, I tried using StayzOn to change the color of the debossed part of the image.  Guess what?  It worked, and it worked AWESOME!!!

I did clean up the image with a paper stump before I sanded it.  This makes sure the inside parts of the cirlces are pressed down enough so that you don't get the StayzOn on that part.  I then designed the title in Design Studio with Doodletype for the "Christmas Day" and the ovals are from Wild Card.  The patterned papers are Echo Park and Making Memories and all the embellishments are Making Memories.  Here is the rest!
